I am setting up a ignition system and was wondering if there was something else I could use besides the DSM ignitor. Is that the only choice I have? Maybe something aftermarket or from another car, gm maybe? So far I have the following parts:

1 MSD DIS-2
2 MSD GM Tower Coils
1 MSD Coil Interface Block
1 MSD 8.5 MM Plug Wires

 

ebay is your friend, or you can buy a new one from the stealership for around $140

 

yeah dealership say it will take like 2 weeks. I have called a few. I couldn't find any on ebay either. I am wondering if there is some kind of other ignitor I can use besides the DSM one.

 

you could for sure. I actually wired up a coil on plug setup using 4 honda ignitors out of the distributors.

 

you used the honda ignitors on a EVO? I am little concerned about fring the ECU.

Not on an evo, but it could be done. With the stock ecu you would only need 2 as there is only 2 coil outputs from the stock ecu. Depending on what coil packs you use, the coil dwell could be off as the stock ecu is set up for the stock Evo coils. Not sure you can even change the dwell with a re-flash either.
