I am not bashing anyone. He simply said he spent over $3000 on a turbo install. Plain English, I read it as I see it. If he specifies anything else, so be it.

Someone kill this thread!

I saw no attacks on anyone or anyone's product. Precision simply made a comment about his own experience and based an opinion on said experience.

I'm sure the 20g is a good product. It's just not what Precision is looking for.

Just for a little background I spent nearly $300 on a catback/downpipe install and nearly $300 as well on gauge installation. This is the first time I spent full price on installation from a company I didn't know. Do any of you veterans think I spent too much? I have had parts installed on my GSX, but it was by a friend who owns a shop and before then, my uncle and his friend. I only spent $100 each time.
I spent the 3g on other things NOT just the turbo I had cams put in AEM I got and tuned alky kit ect. Nick is a good person and will help you when you need it. I dont have a 20 g but wish I did Im just saying that there might be a boost leak causing the problem. I did not know I had one and thought the car ran good 2 time but when it was fixed the car ran even better both times....

Please, read above. Maybe "bash" was the wrong word. And he didn't say he spend $3000 on a turbo install. He said he spent $3000 AND it was where he had his TME installed. I feel so vindicated.

I plan on running anywhere from 22-29 PSI on the GT35R if that is the turbo I decide to go with. In addition, I'll be using alky, AEM EMS with MAF delete, and some HKS 280s as well...

Here are some of the mods I have on hand:

Now on to the review... First of all, I have to say I am very dissapointed with the results of the TURBO, I am extremely pleased with my custom tune... My hp and torque curves are good, and the car does feel extremely fast... But on the dyno, you can tell how bad this turbo surges and robs power... Time after time, at 6000rpm, the turbo would surge and almost flatten out... My boost hits 1.8bar and drops to 1.4-1.5... From everything I have read, the stock turbo can do that just fine... There wasn't alot that could be done... Nick and the guys spent 4 hours on the dyno cranking away, but couldt get it to stop surging... After all the time spent, I put down 335hp and 300torque... Im going to continue to play with it to see if it can remedy the problem but I dont think ill have any luck... Everything considered, I feel like I wasted $1350 on a mod that is no better than my stock turbo... Ill have an update and ill scan my dyno sheet for everyone later...
That stinks...who would have thought!!!

So you had a 1000 rpm spoolup loss. I find this hard to belive as i personally installed one on a Buschur stage 3 car with AEM. it spooled pretty darn fast, heck i even have the datalog to show. I think you have something else wrong with your car if that is the case.

Prostreet Motorsports... got them from Logic Performance...

If you are wondering why I have 1 gear, I plan on just running it on the intake side. I have HKS 280's, and will do +2 intake, and 0 exhaust.

Mr Dynoflash, what kind of dyno may I ask that gave you the 369hp/359tq?

I would just suggest that you look at the other possible causes - e.g. boost leaks

First of all Dave, I made that post with no intention of attacking your product. I simply wanted to give an unbias view of the 20G on my particlar setup. It was a personal review and a first impression. I think people need lots of reviews from many sources in order to make a decision to spend that kind of money.

Second, you were honest about the issues with the turbo (surge and recommend upgraded wastegate actuator, etc...) I understood that buying this turbo... However, I didnt expect as much surge as I am getting. I never said that you lied or didnt give enough information on the turbo... I did add the ugraded Forge wastegate actuator before the tune BTW...

Now, I dont blame all of my disappointment on the turbo. I agree there needs to be time spent playing with the BOV, finding leaks, etc... I also didnt have any really high expectiations of the turbo. I was expecting about 350-360, I think thats a reasonable goal with my setup.

I unfortunately do not have any results with my stock turbo because I added the FMIC, 20G, and alky all at once... I have never used a mustang dyno either, so I dont have a real comparison...

My claim about people making this kind of power with more mild setups is true. There was a guy on Tues with a few less mods that made somewhere around I did with 87 octane and water injection, with the stock turbo... I know you cant compare everyones car because each car is different but thats impressive... I am running 91 and straight methanol... Thats why I expected a little more out of my car.

I really think that there is 20hp and 20torque left in my car. I ordered an HKS SSQV because my Greddy BOV is leaking i think... We all seem to thnk that is part of the problem... I again, will check for leaks and continue to work on my car until they come back next month and we'll see...

Lastly, I never said I was unhappy with my car or the turbo, I just think that I should have made more power... I was just dissapointed.

I hope this clears things up with everyone including you Dave... I have used and recommended alot of your products in the past and i will continue to do so in the future...

Ryan
