So far, we got it up to a repeatable 270-275whp. I still have some more work to do with the mapping. Here's what we left off with as of 10pm:
For AWD Dynojet equivalence, multiply the numbers by ~1.14.
I probably have another day of mapping to do. Then another day or so of road testing. Still need to smoothen out the boost map (there's a 2psi boost dip at 4300rpm and a 1psi overboost at 5000rpm). After I have a reasonably good baseline map for a stock car, we'll bolt on a turbo-back exhaust and map it again. The car runs 21psi of boost until 5700rpm and then tapers down to 16psi by 7400rpm. I tried running more boost up top but the car wasn't cooperating on 91oct.
I did get some good seat time in the car tonight on the way home. It's pretty unreal. It's fast, smooth sounding and super quiet. Not a combination that is too common with EVOs
The transition from vacuum to boost is really nice. Off boost, with the new MIVEC mapping, it feels more like a 2.3L than a 2.0L (notice the 15lb-ft gains down low off boost). It is very noticeable on the road.More later...
cheers,
shiv
PS. We are using the Ecutek reflashing system with some advanced/beta parameters unlocked (we've been working our pals at Ecutek since '02).

give the man a car for a few days and he can figure out the entire ecu; give the man a computer and tell him to network it he'll set it ABLAZE, figures!! Impressive SHIV VISHNU, as usual.

Skiracer is referring to a gentleman's bet concerning HIS Evo 9's stock horsepower. The ten of us at the shop all threw in a buck and wrote down our predictions for WHP. I had originally guessed 270 (dead on perfect) but revised it slightly to 268 and ended up losing the pot of cash to Aaron (TT mechanic) by .3 whp. He guessed 273.
Sorry about the highjack Shiv, but what do you expect from us SoCal yahoos?
At least it sends your post "ttt"

Shiv - are you hitting the rev limiter at 7600? I bought a IX a month ago and, despite redline being 7k, haven't hit fuel cut yet... I've gotten to about 7500-7600 RPM without hitting the limiter, and didn't want to find out the hard way whether this engine doesn't have a fuel cut!
You seem to be the only DSMer type guy when it comes to the ECUs of these things... I appreciate that.
I would assume that the 6 maps for timing is somewhat like the DSM maps (Which have 11). They are most likely very long term maps, starting at 1 and slowly working higher and higher (Which in DSMs could take a month). I think alot would have to do with its stored octane rating variable.. you should read into the DSM ECUs because I really think they are somewhat similair in the way they work.
I only wish you would toss up how you are decoding the maps and variables though
I also wish Mitsu used Honda's V-Tech as opposed to this Mivek crap. Think about it... would you rather change your cams on the fly or change your adjustable cam gears on the fly. Oh well.... Nice work!
