I know Shiv is working on an Elise tomorrow and dynoing my car. The only thing that might take longer on my car would be if Shiv wants to upgrade my firmware to v.3. (I'm still oldschool with v.2) I would guess we go kart then eat, or go eat then kart. Make it late just to be on the safe side, I guess... Shiv??

The rollin chicane will not let this happen. I see the Vishnu Crew in alot of Sig alerts at the Kart track. TEAmwork will prevail.

Shivley,

Every stock IX I've seen on the dyno really falls off hard at 7000rpm. Is it a boost, timing, or a Mivec thing?
IDDINIT?

So, are the only differences between the 8 & 9 the remapped ECU, MIVEC and the new turbo; or are there other factors that come into play in the HP gain?

Stock for stock, the only real differences between an '05 Evo 8 and an '06 Evo 9 is the turbo, MIVEC, and the ECU. All other functional elements pertaining to engine output, from what I understand, are the same.

Could be wrong, but I'll wait to hear otherwise from someone whose more familair with them, like Shiv.

for the extensive testing!

I too am jealous of all Evo 9 owners.

We'll also conduct some testing under load with a AWD dyno to get the best possible picture of the cummulative effects of the upgrades. We're hoping to make 390bhp while still maintaining stock or below stock level of tailpipe emissions.

shiv

A lot of us are hoping for 390bhp with just a TBE and of course 93/94 octane

I have some Q I's like to know the answers to:

Is the IX cams lift/duration the same as the VIII?
Is the cat inlet/outlet the same ID?
Is the exhaust the same ID?

- The lift and lobe profiles of the cams are the same from what I understand. The duration is 238 intake and 234 exhaust. The duration on the intake cam is constantly variable with the MIVEC, however.

- The exhaust is the same in terms of internal flow volume and such. It just has a fre different enternal mounting points or something.

- see above

Thanks, good to know Mike, but can you make a diverter valve for it that doesn't flutter all over like a school girl at her first prom?

There is nothing to be jealous of, the 05 VIII is still a very awesome car to tune, which in it's own right produces very large gains with just bolt ons. It may turn out that the IX is a little better, but that doesn't make the 05 VIII a bad car, the 05 VIII is still one of the greatest EVOs in my opinion.

Looks like the IX is going to be a little cheaper to get the gains vs. VIII but yes, both make crazy power with the right parts.
