My Engine Meltdown!!!!!!!!!
i feel ur pain and agree that not having ur car, paying lots of money to fix it when u cant necessarily afford it, and having a upset wife behind u just isnt fun. but as much as u wanted to race, if my car was having trouble starting, run inconsistantly, and just all around not content with my purchase after spending im sure over $2k in a stand-alone, the last place i would be is the track. my car would not have moved from the shop that it was tuned at until fixed. thats the only way that makes sense.
I am really sorry to hear about your engine. I have had similar issues with my Eclipses Turbos, it was back in the mid 90's and I thought that I was in top of the world by just installing a Greddy TVVC MBC.
I have had holes in the block, I have had hole in the pistons and I have had the top of my pistons melted as if you put a slice of american cheese in top of a hamburguer in a grill and watch how it starts melting..
I really synphatize with you and I will also contribute for some of your repairs.
Back to the subject of the tunning, I honestly think you should had stop when you were tuned with Stock ECU and Dynoflash. Running 12.0 on pump gas is a great achievement that most of us wish we could get.
I want to bet my neck that you could had run that 11.64@117 if you had Al tune your car on race gas. I must critizize you in one thing, buying the AEM was a expensive upgrade and in my opinion it would just get you .2-.4 sec quicker but at a high price.
The big question that many people are wondering is why your car ran slower with race gas on stock ECU and Dynoflash. Most of us normally improve .2sec and 2MPH, at least I do.
Good luck!!
Carlos

My employer(USAF) has multiple programs so you are not stick in that situation, I have been like that many times but my employer backed me up with their Finantial aid and the advance pay.
The one thing it caught my attention is the reliability of his previous tunning, more than one hundred passes at the track and not a single issue.
People should realize that reliability sometimes is a priority unless you have a lot of money and can afford expensive stuff and expensive repairs.
This is a good call for people that are looking for the ultimate tuning machine.. Sometimes you want to stick with something simple but reliable, ask Warrtalon or dragnracing guys.
And yes, I do back up the statement that Phillyevo said before, whatever you do, go with a reputable tuner, like Dynoflash.

Sorry to hear about your loss... however, you gotta pay to play... even with dumb mistakes on anyone's part.
Trust me, I'm very well aware of what kinda financial pains you must be going through... and downtime w/o your car. At least you made a very good decision on having David be your engine builder.

Wow....financial issues. Understandable, now remedy it instead of purchasing a very expensive stroked racing engine.
If you are in such financial strife that you need to ask for donations from people you don't even know, then you are living WAY beyond your means. This means, fix the motor with the money you make from selling all of those fancy aftermarket parts, and sell the car off.

--2 broken trannys on my 03 WRX plus a clutch, plus labor$$ thousands all that in less than 45 days between the two failures
3 broken engines on my Plymouth laser Turbo(melted the piston twice) put a hole in the block once ( thousands dollars)
2 set of brand new turbos desintegrated completly while I was driving my Stealth R/T twin turbo, it destroyed everything in the path $$$ thousands on repairs
Again a destroyed cylinder head on a 91 Eclipse GSX along with a Turbo
Super expensive repairs and parts to get my 1991 Porsche Carrera 4 to pass the British MOT inspection when I was estationed in RAF Lakenheath , just to give you an idea 800 british pounds($1200) for a freaking catalytic converter,
Having to buy a freaking entire stock aluminium suspension arm on the Porsche because one bushing was cracked
Yeah, lets talk about expensive repairs.... I know exactly how that guy feels, it is a tough situation, I have been ther I have done that, no savings, no car to go to work and a huge bill to pick up.
Sometimes you have to actually park your car, buy something cheap and start all over again. If you have a lender it is better. My employer has plans to get your car repair with no interest and easy payment plans.
I am surprise that PhillyEVO employer doesn't have a plan for that type of situations.

Listen guys you only know half of the story I can’t go into full detail yet. Only a hand full knows me on here...... When I said about the donations I am not looking for money.
I posted that to let people know it is a very expensive sport and be careful I was being cocky by posting that and I see some took it the wrong way sorry but I am pissed. I am not looking for sympathy or pity. I just don't want people to go to any turner even if they say there certified and AEM trained or Ecutck certified. Like some people post do RESEARCH.
This is off the subject but my I con is the confederate flag because I love studying the civil war. And I like the southern heritage. That is it.........
I am the type of person who does not ***** and just takes the loss. ....I come from a back ground of working on race cars I grew up around cars I was old school......Until I got my Evo. I wanted to go faster I read everything I needed to know about my mods I talked to my Vendor prior to me buying my mods and others. If you noticed and did research most of my mods are Bushur. I don't by junk. I was going to do all the work my self but between my schedule I could not. Along side of being a Police Officer I have a well established t- shirt business that I run out of my house And that pays for my mods ect.
After I was befriended by this tuner I had to be towed two times. Reason was they put the wrong exhausts donut in between the O2 housing and the down pipe. So my exhaust was off to the right so when I made hard left turns the rear O2 sencer would hit the floor board and blow the fuse....DO research and find my Post. I met another member on here that day. Drevo he can tell you......
My car was tuned for the way I ran my car. I was told by the tuner who had my car on the dyno for 2 different days tuning it that I would have several different maps but only got one. So I am not a tuner at all but tell me if this is proper we were at the STI shoot out this summer now with all my mods and I am a very very good driver I ran a high 13. On pump gas on AEM that was tuned for 2 days on the Dyno at 352whp on the mustang. So I come back pissed I now have over $12,000 in mods my car ran 13. Stock. I then put race gas in as he told me to then while we were in the lanes he tunes my car and I ran a 12.0 and later I ran my 11.9 and nothing was ever logged. He never showed me how to log I had to ask other people and my vender how to log. ect.
So please do not send any donations again I was be cocky and please be careful on who you pick to tune your car.

The cops in my town make a great living. One made $124,000 last year with overtime and side jobs. Not to mention that since they get a great pension, saving money for retirement isn't as necessary. Maybe you should come to CT!

What turbo do you plan to use with the stroke? The 6.5 TME/stroker would be an unusual but interesting combo.
If I were you I'd fix it and then sell it. Cars can turn into real money pits. Don't beleive that stuff you hear from some people that if you don't get a certain car you'll regret it when you're older. I drove around in beaters most of my life and looking back I'm so glad I didn't go out and spend a big wad on cars ( and you have no idea how tempted I was). My friends went out and bought Corvettes etc and most of them are now in the junkyard. In your spot you probably have to be a little more practical.
