Po183?

A buddy of mine hooked up his lap top to read my SES error codes the other day and got a Po183. Which said it was a fuel code. Something like fuel temperture code. I forgot the whole wording..what is this? How is this fixable. Whats causing it?

CIRCUIT OPERATION
• 5-volt voltage is applied to the fuel tank temperature sensor output terminal (terminal No. 3) from the ECM (terminal No. 77) via the resistor in the ECM.
• The fuel tank temperature sensor output voltage increases when the resistance increases and decreases when the resistance decreases. The ground terminal (terminal No. 2) is grounded to the vehicle body.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
• The fuel tank temperature sensor converts the fuel tank temperature to a voltage.
• The ECM detects the fuel tank temperature in the fuel tank with this output voltage.
DTC SET CONDITIONS

Check Conditions
2 seconds or more have passed since the starting sequence was completed.

Judgement Criteria
• Fuel tank temperature sensor output voltage has continued to be 4.6 volts or higher for 2 seconds.
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS (The most likely causes for this code to be set are: )
• Fuel tank temperature sensor failed.
• Open fuel tank temperature sensor circuit, harness damage, or connector damage.
• ECM failed.

I beleve you said someone eles did the pump install (plus other things) and you had a SES light after that . Check all the conctetions for the fuel pump , one of the sensors or plugs might be F-ed up . I think evomoto has a good write up how to put in fuel pump in , check that out and prety much reinstall your fuel pump and make sure everything is right on your end .

Did you ever get this figured out?? I have the same code but it's still the original fuel pump? Do I have to replace the fuel pump to replace the sensor?

Thanks!
