idle problems

my M.R. has been acting up on me recently. when ever i take off then go to second gear it sounds like it idles high, sort of like i'm holding the clutch down and pressing down the gas kind of sound. I took it to mitsu to see if my clutch is wearing out but they told me that it wasnt but they said that with me installing a greddy bov, it might of been the reason. need some help here.. thanks.

mine idles at 1000 a startup. Then when I go and reach above 2k. then go into neutral the car hangs at 2k. Is this like your problem?

ummm if its happening when the car is not at full operating temp, it could be because the car is in closed loop where the 02 sensor isnt sending to the ecu. so wht happens is, it ususally takes about 20 seconds for the 02 sensor to sense oxygen in the exahust then send it to the ecuthat is why u see the rpms at 2k when you start it then it drops down. but if it happens when you are warm, it might have to do with modifications. did you take out your clutch-in rev limiter that is on 2005+ models?

2k is pretty high, but your car should idle high on a cold start and slowly ramp down as ECT increases. Almost all cars do this, for various reasons including o2 sensor heat up, catalyst light-off, hearter core warm up, etc...

Cars should be in open-loop after start up, then go closed loop when the sensors are warm enough. Catalyst light off usually takes longer, especially since the cat on the evo is so far away from the engine.

I dont think thats the condition that the origional poster is describing, unless the MR only does it cold.
