To answer this question once and for all.....

...... yes, we are taking care of the issue from the "factory" (Forge UK).

We are now taking extra care to assemble the units in a "clean-room" type of area, we are taking extra care to clean the components of the units much better, and there will now be no chance of the ball sticking.

If anyone with any current unit experiences a problem that they are unable to resolve themselves, contact us and we will gladly help take care of it with you.

However, all future production units will be free of any problems of any kind!

Done, and done!

was that the problem though? was it a problem of cleanliness in assembly or was it an issue of the ball and bevel size.

Primarily a cleanliness issue.

The ball was getting stuck inside the unit, and the bleed hole was filled with "debrit" that was preventing proper operation, so that was the largest part of the problem.

It should all be taken care of from this point forward!

This kind of openness in customer service breeds confidence in a company in my opinion.

You even deliberately bumped the threads where people were complaining so that any remaining questions could be answered instead of hidden.

Kudos to you Mike.

it doesn't make sense that the mbc would be dirty from assembly tho... unless you guys are like assembling them in a mud pit (which it doens't look like) what if the dirt got in from the car?

eh i don't get it.

4 wheelslide,
You can't say your showing respect for your dad, while at the same time doing something that you have to hide from him, the two just don't mix! There's a reason why your dad doesn't want you moddify your car, it's not likely that he's trying to hinder your enjoyment, it's more probable that he wants you to be safe and not trash your car.

Ever since I've greased the ball in the UNOs, it's been working fine. I can see a spike to 24-25 for a split second in 3rd gear, then drops to 21-22 and begins a slight taper as it approaches 7500 rpms.

For me greasing the ball solved the problem, as easy as that.

I'm sorry guys to bring this thread back from death, but I have to.

I'm the one who started the thread early this year (one of the first who experienced the crazy spikes), and finally solved the problem on Jan. 10 by greasing the ball inside the MBC. It's been 7 1/2 months of hard driving (and couldn't be happier) until today that I had THE worst PSI spike ever! If my boost gauge could read that high it would be around 32PSI!!!

I was driving back home from the office when I floored my EVO, I was in 3rd gear and the pull was so hard that it felt like I launched my car on slicks at 7K RPM! I immediately let off and checked my gauges, tried it again (now taking a look at my boost gauge) and it went all the way to the stop pin at the end!!! I had my camera with me so I filmed another try and on the video you can see how quickly boost goes up (at even very small RPM variations). By just pressing the gas a little bit boost goes crazy! I'll upload the video tomorrow morning; my docking station is at the office.

As soon as I got home I took the Unos apart and found that the grease that I put back in January had dried. Another thing that I noticed is that the ball (once again stuck at the base/cup of the Unos) had scratches. I cleaned the ball, spring, and interior, re-applied grease, and put all back together, drove around and everything was OK again, dialed the correct clicks and now I'm back in business, like nothing happened.

I love this product, but I don't really think that greasing the ball solves the issue. I could blow up my engine, so I hope you guys understand how nervous I feel now when I go WOT. For all those of you that experienced this problem before, be careful and keep an eye on the boost gauge. Cleaning the Unos periodically would be a good practice, however I don't think we should go through this hassle, this MBC (or any other on the market) should work without issues.

Forge’s support has been great, now I have a question for you Mike. I really think there was a problem with one of the Unos batches, and cleaning is just a temporal solution. I don’t remember to whom (vendor) I purchased my Unos from, nor I find my invoice, so how do I do if I want to replace it with a 100% defective-free unit?

Thanks.

Videos as promised, before and after cleaning and greasing the ball/spring on the Unos. Driving, shifting, filming, and keeping an eye on the boost gauge all at the same time is not ease, so it's not the best video out there.

Crazy spikes, boost is fine at 3500RPM, before engine reaches 4000RPM boost spikes over 30PSI:

Perfect boost, this video was filmed this morning after cleaning and greasing the Unos:

If an issue like this is experienced, it's covered. Period.

I can fully accept the possibility that some units slipped by with a legitimate problem, but the vast majority of the units appear to be trouble free, so I'll never say that the design is faulty in any way. Some units just have minor issues that seem to be easily remedied.

We stand behind our products and will do everything in our power to correct them as they arise.

Get in touch with us and we'll sort it out.

NO, we do not even remotely recommend using motor oil to lubricate any of our parts.

Fully synthetic bearing grease only.

Any brand is fine as long as it's a fully synthetic grease.
