Don't do it. Use BPR7ES/BPR7EIX, BR8ES, or BPR8ESBPR8EIX, but the really you should just use the 7s that I listed. It should only take a day for them to get 4 in stock from another store...

Like Wurlytalon said and...

I have been running BPR7ES for a year and about 6 sets in my evo with no problem.

I know people ran the BP7ES in DSMs with no problems but I heard that evos get a little grumpy with them.

BPR7ES's are cheap enough that you can buy a whole box or two at a time so you can always have extras.

I wouldn't even go with any of the 7 series. I installed the BPR7EIX's and when tuning the car with race gas I pumped up the boost and was getting spark blown out. Replaced them with 8's and problem solved. 8's were less than half the price too.

Are my plugs ok? Vishnu recommended BPR8es? or should I go to the 7's. There is a "split" camp on these. please advise, and sorry about the hijacking.

What gap did you run?

I have had no problem with 25psi and BPR7ES gapped to .025

When I pulled them out they were split .026 and .027 two each. I even have magnacor plug wires so I was certain this was not the problem but guess I was wrong. Mine were iridiums...maybe that had something to do with it?

No, you need BPR8ES or at least BR8ES, because you have a lot of mods. 7s are really for those with 330whp or less...really 300whp or less. I used 7s even on race gas, but had to switch to BR8ES once I started cranking the boost on alky.

I would have used 8s earlier, but my regular 21psi daily driven 300whp mode did not run well even with properly-gapped 8s. It would sputter when building boost below 5k rpm, but would work perfectly above 5k, so I stuck with 7s until just last week...

OK a NGK Plug #'s are *** backwords from everyone elses a "9" plug like a bpr9es is colder an an "8" plug Like bpr8es. the resistor in the plug is made for radio interference. if you run a snowmobile and use a br9es normally and you cant get them, then the b9es is the exactly the same and because you have no radio you wont have an interference problem. so to answer your question, NO you cannot run a b7es in you evo, it probally wont hurt it but you will not be able to listen to your radio.

This is standard for any plug and is not specific to NGK. Colder ranges have higher numbers. Stock is 7 for the Evo, and to go one range colder, you use an 8.

i almost agree, this however is NOT standard AC Delco and Champion are the oppsite of NGK the higher the # the Hotter the plug. i do agree with the second part of your statement......i've worked @ Advance Auto for 4 years now, i'm not being an *** or a dick, all im saying is that i've sold a spark plug or 2 and i know what im doing. for instance a 90' chevy 4X4 w/ a 350 engine, in an AC plug takes a CR43TS, to go 1 hotter you use a CR44TS. and no they dont make a CR42TS if its boosted, to go to a colder plug...lol
