Hyper Ground System...
As most of you know,
offers something called Earthing Cables. What it does, is that it improves the ground throughout the engine and engine bay. A stronger, cleaner ground, provides more power, better gas mileage, and a better idle. It is also a much stronger platform to base modifications on, rather than the stock grounding system.
The price of this accessory through
is around $250, plus the labor to put it on (couple hours). If you have the money, it's a good kit, that's made well and it'll be warrantied. If you don't though, like me, I tried making my own. I created a template and made my own. Instead of using approximately 6 guage wire, I used 4 gauge wire, so it was a little more heavy duty. I matched up the connector size for all the ends so it will match 100% to the factory. I also followed the installation instructions.
Any average joe who would feel comfortable changing their own oil should be able to put this on.
There's a pic at the end. I'm thinking, since I have this now, I'll use mine as a template and make one for whomever wants one. Just shoot me a PM and I'll work out the details with you.

Too much $ Fireball. My bro-in-law purchased blue one's for WRX's for $10 in Signapore. It's a very nice cable set. That's how much they cost and
is ripping us off.
The WRX has poor grounding so it needs a set. I guess
is admitting their grounding suck as well. Most domestic cars do not require this mod. Oh well, what can you do

You have got to be kidding...
Anyone who pays $300 for a couple feet of 8awg wire, a few ring terminals, and some heat shrink tube is an idiot. Please tell me that price is a joke! If the engineers at Mitsubishi can't get their ground network correct, what does this say about the rest of the car? Factory grounding is usually sufficient unless there is a buildup of corrosion at the grounding point or a loose/damaged cable. A wire of that size/length is only going to provide a negligable amount of resistance (somewhere in the milliohm range). BTW, if it takes a
tech a couple of hours to change a ground strap, something is seriously wrong. Just my $.02.

I was really thinking about getting these from mits. It is there only performance upgrade they offer. One that will not hurt your warrenty. I seen where these add 10 w tq. when added.
Mits parts said $218 plus install.
What type/ brand is mits selling? I still think Im going to get some installed from mits. And keep my warrenty nice and neat.

These really can't hurt your warranty, so long as you don't decide to bridge the terminals on your battery with them or something.... and even that will probably only void the warranty on a set of burnt hyper ground wires and maybe a battery.
All these do is connect some grounding points to other grounding points to give a more consistent ground reference for voltages throughout the engine bay. There's no way to do them wrong.

The actual materials to make the kit may be pretty inexpensive, but the design of the factory unit would be a best guess without having an actual factory item to use as a template.
Hopefully you can build the copies, make a some cash, and help your brother EVO owners that are interested in a grounding kit, but don't want to pay the overblown Mitsubishi price.
DIY grounding kits are not rocket science- precisely measured is certainly nice when it's cheap, but it's not worth $200+. Just get a nice, long length of cable, some cutters, and stretch it between each connection, allow for a little slack (from engine movement), snip, add connectors at each end, and viola, you are there. And your wallet isn't on fire, either.
Grounding on most cars is adequete, but hyper-performance turbo cars seem to suffer. One theory is that there is a lot of noise from all that's packed in there, and it upsets the ECU. The other theory is a bit easier to understand -beancounters are cheap bastards, and they'll only put as much grounding in as is minimally required. And then any sub-100% connection or wire will start messing up the system. (how much stuff in the engine bay really works at 100%?)
Just remember - it is not a performance enhancer. It's bringing your system up to normal operational levels. If you gain anything, it's because you had lost it in the first place. So for some people, there will be no gains, because, ta da, their system was in perfect operating order in the first place! Which is another reason not to pay $200+ for the wires - then they are just a very expensive placebo.
Cheers,
Paul Hansen
