I have the older style BR deluxe that has half of the lower piping welded to it.. then i'm using the lower pipe from the 20g-9 install kit.

Car felt strong for the whole 2 seconds I got to drive it.. broke during a nice hard 2-3 shift. I think with a front motor mount and possibly a stronger/replacement coupling it should be fine.

I have no idea about the samco couplers :\

Its just an AMS coupler, they are like 4-ply, very strong. Its like 2x as thick as the one that comes with the BR kit. I had 2 of the Turbonetics (ones that come with the FMIC kit) tear up on me. The AMS one still looks brand new. Its also still flexible, not ultra stiff like the Samco ones.

Yeah I definitely reccomend getting it now

Sweet man! I didn't even think to look there. I'll get one of these ordered and see how they are. I'm also going to get the Powerflex front bushing in at the same time.

I think this should be the last of my "issues". I'm really starting to wonder if the coupler has been leaking for some time or if it just tore apart all at once.

Actually I should probably take the one torn coupler off and make sure this one is the same length and everything.. or did you already do this?

I didn't compare the length, but I did compare the inner diameters. The gap between the end of the turbo outlet pipe and the beginning of the LIC pipe welded to the core is pretty tight on mine, so I wasn't thinking the length would be an issue.

EDIT: Just went out to the garage and measured. The one that Buschur sends is 4" long and each section (i.e., the 2" and 2-1/4") is exactly 2" long. On this Vibrant one the whole thing is 3" long, the narrower end is 1" long and the fat end is 2" long. Here's a picture from the ebay ad:

I don't see why this would present any issue, especially with a t-bolt clamp. This company is the same one that supplies the mufflers to AMS for their turbobacks BTW, so I think they sell quality stuff.

From: In Hell, but making my way out
Low moments of the weekend.

There were a few cars that came through that just did not make any power. One in particular was a very nice EVO8 with another companies Stage 1 on it. There was something definetely not right as this other company builds very good parts. The car only made 218 whp, that's stock numbers. He was not the only one though. There were two "stage 1" cars that just were horrible. No signs of knock, boost was fine on both. No reason without a good check over of the cars which we didn't have time for. No boost leaks were apparent. I hate seeing that as it leaves very disapointed people in the end.
So I suppose I was the low point of the weekend running an AMS Stage 1. Funny you say I put down 218 stock(which I am almost positive it was me on Friday) but you had the boost completely off and Al told you this but I was told atleast it was safe. My car left feeling less strong than before I got there. My gas mileage was better and is horrible now with normal driving. You said my low end was a bit lean, which I did not verify this. My final dyno results were 231 awhp and 245.6 ft-lbs torque. With the light weight flywheel and the fluids, Al said my drivetrain resistance or strain(whatever it is he said) was pretty much zero. I was so tired and angry at some things that had happened through the day that I just left and went home to keep the peace. My Evo has always been strong, and now after upgrades with no boost leaks or mechanical issues, the car is suddenly has a weak stock HP number. First off, there is no base stock number on my car since the parts were already on when I got there and tuned with the Apexi-SAFCII which it ran very fast and solid. I am curious to what the actual problem was or is then? See, my car ran a 13.3 in the 1/4 stock with a slipping clutch(for an 04 VIII) so obviously it was not weak like you said. I don't dog my car or mistreat it either. I'm also not blind and know that Evo's vary greatly in actual stock power. I believe you told me it was one of the weakest VIII's you had seen, which I believe is not true. Maybe you were joking, maybe not since I couldn't tell.
So help me out here. I would like to see my charts of my initial runs if possible so I can get to the bottom of this. PM me

BTW, just remembered. You had some issues with the Dyno with the Silver Evo before me on Friday and changed something out and let it recalibrate. Could this have effected my Dyno results in an adverse way?
