VTA Cause Intercooler Leak/Come Off?

Well heres the short story, I recently got my MBC installed.
I ran over to the local Home Depot and got the 1 1/4" cap for the intake hose, and ran that for a while with no problems.
Yesterday I had the problem, I was driving normal and then came to a light downshift and then try to take off after a mustang but then heard this loud whoosh, somewhat like a intercooler leak. So I keep it really calm and really really low RPM's. I wasnt sure what it was but when i got home I looked at the VTA setup and it looked good, I had no idea it was the intercooler flex section. So today when Im driving to school, the flex section gave out and came off, I was litterally trying to roll with my car turned off to the nearest local turnoff (over a bridge). Well finally got there, took off the airbox and looked at the VTA setup again and then look to my right and see the flex section completely off and I was like wow. And my 1st assumption was that the shop didnt tighten it enough, because Ive never touched it.

So my question is, would capping off that intake hose cause alot more pressure in the intercooler piping and cause so much to come off (seperate the flex and piping)?

So I put it back to Recirc and then put the flex section back on and drove home oh so careful, shifting under 2500.

Im scared, what should I do? I dont want anything to happen as Im driving. I cant drive normal anymore.

Any input would be great!

why did you cap off the hose when you installed the MBC? DO NOT RUN VTA, nothing but problems.... be warned!!!

Greddy RS?

Do you think it could be a boost spike? or defect?

I dont kno..but dont blame it on the VTA i mean some cars run a VTA and dont have an issues like myself(havent stalled once) and some cars hate em...i heard the greddy RS doesnt hold boost real well either so that could be run problem...the HKS SSQV VTA can hold a great amount of boost tho and that is what i run..iv had it for over a year and no problems..

Hmm well I called the local shop and said the RS would be fine to run, it might be a boost spike from the Hallaman I had installled or a defect.

Could maybe too tight on the intercooler flex clamp be the problem? The shop said they dont hold very well at all.

Im nervous to drive my car anywehre.

So you installed a MBC then went VTA...ok. You're VTA didnt cause the hose to pop off. Grab some hairspray, spray the inside of the pipe, put it back on, tightly, and you're all good. Then install your BOV back into your intake and your all set.

Be sure to spray the OUTSIDE of the pipe, not the inside. The silicone IC hose should be clamped over the lip of the hard IC pipe with the hairspray being between the contact surfaces - this helps it all seal nicely.

Damn english language. Thats what i meant, spray the INSIDE of the hose, or the outside of the pipe.
