Those with the gt35. i have a ?

ive searched and find limited info on my ?. anyway i have a SBR gt35r kit on the way and want to know if the stock valve train can handle 8000rpm shifts? i have 272/272 cams and headstuds but no head work yet. Al will be doing a cutom road tune for me and i want him to raise my limiter to 8500. I plan i doing a stage 3 head, but not this year. how long have you gt35r guys been running the stock head? hows it holding up? thanx for taking time to answer.

Arne Toman from AMS had a GT30R, and all that was internal was 272 cams. He had his rev limiter at 8500 with the stock valvetrain so it should be ok.

Hey Turbojunkie,

I dont have a GT35 but...............

All you really NEED to do is valve springs, they arnt that expensive.

I would do that then run the 8500rpm limit.

i have only just raised my rev limit.
but from what i've read on this site numerous times...
8000rpms would be safe on a stock valvetrain!

With the GT35R you will bang into the rev limiter in 1st and probably 2nd gear. The top end pull is simply amazing. So, if you don't want to go past 8,000 RPM have them set the limiter to 8100, not 8500

On my old 03 I ran with stock valve train other than HKS 272's and adjustable cam gears and a 8,000 RPM shift point for over 2 years with no problems. Talking to Dave Buschur his worry point is that above 8,000 RPM you are putting a lot of strain on the stock bottom end since the stock pistons are substantially heavier than aftermarket pistons the inertia at TDC is pretty intense at those speeds.

thanx for the imput guys, ill try and keep it at 8000 till the valve train gets built.

jbergmier, i bought the sbr kit from Importimage (josh) great guy to deal with. im very excited about this kit. with als road tune i hoping for 11.6 11.8's on pump. i plan on shifting at 8k for now.

4door, what kind of whp do get on pump? in the nw we have decent 92 oct.

kmccon9, are you running the kit? i think ill be the second one to have this. the finished mani is supposed to be really nice looking.

You could quickly rev it to 8.8k (As I have done accidentally a few times) but I would go with everyone else (Although its just a guess) at 8k... I wouldnt hold it past 8k for very long.
