Runnin Too Lean

Ive done my searching and everyone has their own opinion and i have even seen people contradict themselves. But none the less, I put on the HKS intake on my IX. I have a FORGE MBS and a cat back. But i have read many threads that say that puttin on an aftermarket intake will make the car run too lean.

Wouldnt the MAF meter compensate for the extra air and put in a little more fuel and/or the MIVEC adjust accordingly? I mean I'm only running at 1.3 bar to be on the safe side so its not like im pushin a sh!tload more air into the motor. So would an intake without a flash make my motor run too lean? Some say yes, some say no.

Just curious to see what you guys think. Im a newbie and i can admit it. Any thought?

the maf's in evo's are very sensative, and some intakes just do not respond well to the car. Everytime i read about putting an intake on ur car, they always mentioned some sort of ems. On top of that also though, u have mbc, and an exhaust and would benefit greatly from a flash or some sort of fuel management!

well i have put a aem intake and the AMS lower IC pipe on my Ix and gain 2mph on the 1/4mile. i dont think it will run too lean, but to get max power out of the intake a reflash is a must.

I had similar mods and when I went for a flash my afr was 20/1 which is extremely lean, I had no idea because nothing seemed or felt wrong. The ecu can only compensate so much. Definately get a flash when you get a chance.

20/1? are u sure? coz thats really bad? was it under load? full throttle what? it there was no load on the engine it s not bad ( could be better) but not dangerous

20/1 under full throttle or off throttle. I think you are misinformed or heard wrong. That lean under boost and you'd be picking up melted and mangled pieces of things that used to reside in your engine bay.
