dude i dont mean to alarm you, but this is exactly how my issues started out. Check out your oil for metal. That sensor went bad on mine and after mucho $$ I found out that my crankshaft was moving. The sensor sits in a position where it get chewed up if the crank moves too far. Can you list your mods?

Well, consider me alarmed.

I will check the oil and filter as soon as I get it back.

Mods:
TBE <--On the car for 18 months
HKS 280s <-- on the car for <500 miles
Vishnu Cam Gears <--on the car for <500 miles
Exedy Twin Disc Clutch <-- On the car for ~1200 miles
Hotchkis springs <-- On the car for a year
Brakes <-- On the car for a year
Shifter mods (all of them) <--On the car for a year

I had a Xede on the car back when it was only TBE. I only ran that for like 2 months then took it off to get dealer work done...never put it back on.

But:
Stock Turbo
Stock Exh Manifold
Stock Int Manifold
Stock Injectors
Stock Psi (19.5)
RELIGIOUS oil changes

I was getting an abnormal (IMO) number of P0300 codes.

The reason I am worried now is that I have 3,900 miles left on my "warranty" and I wonder if I should remove the cams, etc and take it back to the dealer...

this is what happened to mine....
later found out that it was the crank angle sensor that malfunctioned

What redninja was experiencing is crankwalk. He was trying to see if you had the same symptoms. Your Xede will have had nothing to do with what happened to you if it is crankwalk. The dealer will most likely want to blame your aftermarket clutch. Hopefully it's just a bad Crank Position Sensor. Good luck.

Unfortunately, there would be no way to BS the dealer about the clutch...they installed it.

EDIT: I just heard from Carmax...

"Hey Joe this is Tony from carmax. Our technician found the problem while replacing the crank position sensor. The crank pulley bolt was loose and so the crank pulley worked its way loose which beat the crank position sensor to death. We replaced the sensor and torqued the crank pulley bolt to spec and you are ready to go."

I know why the crank pulley bolt was loose... Now I feel like a complete ****.

Wow, well I guess that's good to hear. You live and learn from mistakes. Now you can enjoy your Evo again.

Why? I actually had a washer fall down in there and screw me up.
