I have a friend that has an IX RS' and he is torn between choosing the "Ecutek" or the "SAFCII" for a tuning device. Which do you think would be better? He wants to put a TBE,720's, Cams(280 on both sides), Camgears (when they come out with mivec versions) and a fuel pump.

SAFC is a crewd fuel piggy back, ecutek can control timing, mivec, change rev limits, fuel etc....Originally Posted by Thugline

Keep in mind that ECUTEK is a NOT end-user tuning device. You have to find an authorizied tuner/dealer for it. But Ecutek IS the best choice. Remember you are changing the actual fuel/timing tables on the ECU rather than skewing voltages (afc). So tell your buddy to get his mods all sorted out FIRST then get a custom tune.

Guys - just a few points
the IX has 6 ignition timing maps and MIVEC so trying to tune it with a SAFC is really like trying to hunt a giant bear with a sling shot - not adviseable
ECUTEK is very good and I sell it - however - I have perfected the Dyno Flash for the IX which has more tunable parameters than the Ecutek - works the same exact way as far as tuning and is 1/2 the price. My mail in IX flash is $300 shipped fed ex.

the DynoFlash has all of the features of EcuTek if im not mistaken, both are ways of reprogramming the factory ecu maps. I got the dynoflash through the mail last week and i gotta say its awesome, boost holds around 18.5 bar to redline w/o a MBC and holds 21 to redline with MBC set at 22 peak!Originally Posted by althemean
can your dynoflash control boost like the ecutek?

Between those two choices, the ECUTEK is far superior. But I would save money and get a techtom flash such as Dynoflash for the same results. Pretty darn happy with my custom tune even without a MBC (spike 21lbs drop down to 17-18lbs by redline).
