05 VIII Going under the knife this weekend...

Finally cleaning out my garage and installing all my mods this weekend...here's the laundry list...

Megan Manifold
Megan o2 Housing
Megan TBE
K&N Drop In Filter
Forge RS BOV
Revolver Cams + Valvetrain
Fidanza Cam Gears
Walbro 255lph FP
Buschur 680cc Injectors
Buschur LICP
Stainless Clutch Line
Stainless Brake Lines

Once it's all in, I have an appt. @ KTR Performance in Ayer, MA on Thursday to have Franz install the ECUTek and tune the car. I considered DynoFlash and TurboTrix to tune the vehicle but chose KTR based on my past experiences with them and Franz's experience tuning w/ ECUTek on EVO's w/ the Revolver valvetrain. Will post pics and results when I get home Thursday night

Revolver cams on a relatively mild setup? Man, I wish you all the luck in the world. I truly hope you end up with better results than I did. Keep us posted.

I'll post results when I get home Thursday night...I know Franz @ KTR Performance has made great power on cars with similar setups to mine so I am very excited.

KTR should do a good job tuning it, those guys build some sick cars...walking through their shop is like going through an automotive racing museum.

Yeah they built the engine in my R32 and did the supercharger and tuning...then they tuned my Lotus Elise...Franz and the guys out there are very good at what they do and they're all very nice people to boot...even took me out to dinner last time I was there because things were taking so long. It's expensive...but like everything else you get what you pay for. They take there time, do an amazing job, and the customer service is 2nd to none.

Got tuned by Franz Tuesday night...everything went amazing...the manifold I am using made things a little inconsistent...and I sacraficed some torque for a bit of top end...but I will be reverting back to the OEM manifold before Franz scolds me again for using the one I have Scanning graphs now and will post very very soon!

MODS:
Revolver Cams + Valvetrain
BMC Drop-In Filter (Franz threw my K&N across the shop)
Megan Racing Manifold (Franz wanted to throw this across the shop), o2 Housing, Downpipe, Test Pipe, Cat-Back
Fidanza Gears @ -2, 0
Buschur 680cc Injectors
Buschur LICP
Walbro 255lph pump
ARP Head Studs
Forge RS DV
ECUTeK by Franz

Dyno Dynamics numbers always read low as everyone knows, but a heck of a tune overall. Can't wait to get the stock mani back on and gain a bit of tq back even if I sacrafice a few hp. Car was tuned very conservatively and under a large load because I do frequently travel with a car full of people. Should still rip at the track though and pulls VERY hard throughout the power band.

Looks very dangerous to me with boost still being at 25.2psi at 4700rpm on 93oct, although I know the AFRs are in the low 11s.

+1

IIRC, KTR says that dynojets read about 10% higher than their dyno, correct? That puts you at ~333whp with those mods. Seems like a lot of money (revolver cams and valvetrain, ecutek reflash, ktr tuning) for 333whp.

FWIW, I put down that power with GSC cams, stock valvetrain, TT reflash, just right there I saved ~1200 bucks

I agree with the you get what you pay for saying but is it really 1200 bucks better?

It doesn't make sense to buy cheap megan parts and then go for such expensive tuning/cam solutions.

What did Franz not like about the Megan manifold?

To start, the Revolver valvetrain isn't really that expensive considering what you get. If you priced up your GSC cams and then added dual valve springs and retainers you will more than likely spend more than I did for the full Revolver setup. I priced up HKS/GSC/Buddy Club cam gears with valve springs and retainers and found the Revolver Cams to be best value for money. Also, I went with ECUTeK because I like the Delta Dash setup that is available and boost can be controlled electronically so if anything starts to go bad it falls back on the factory fail-safes and bleeds boost to prevent damage. With an MBC you wouldn't have that luxury, you'd just get owned. As far as Franz not liking the manifold...the design wasn't good in his opinion as the bends were "okay" at very best. There were a lot of small areas that he pointed out that I would have never noticed where diameter seems to change in the piping as it bends which can cause the airflow to go a bit loopy and the pulses to be very inconsistent...making it more of a choire to have a consistenttune then it should've been. I am going to log the megan manifold for another week or so, then run a week of loggin on the oem manifold and see which looks better. I will have more torque with the oem manifold without question, but may lose a touch of top end. We'll see.
