Swapping in the evo 9 engine in a 8!

Has anyone heard if it's a direct drop in install to put a Evo 9 engine in the Evo 8? I was kinda thinking if my motor were to ever die or get up there in the miles if it's a thing that has been done yet.

you will probably need the wiring harness and the ecu as well.

If the IX engines have the "improvements" they are touted to, I'd want the IX long block. They seem to be able to run a little more timing... supposedly due to more efficient cooling. However, I've not seen actual proof of this.

I'd think it'd still be cheaper just to sell your 8 and buy a 9. All things considered.

unless you can get a wrecked 9 for cheap, stay with the 8 motor

you'd have to run the 9 ecu too and since the 8 and 9 ecu differ quite a bit i'm guessing you'd have some wiring adaptations you'd have to sort through. otherwise its totally feasible... but a great deal of work.

Hey, the guy that really got me going again in this line of work just dropped a Lexus V8 in his IS300 wagon... using an OE ECU. What's a little "hunt and splice"

BTW... if anyone wants to discuss THIS car http://bedellracing.home.comcast.net/v8swap/
any further, we need to take it to "other cars". This was just an example of a matter of not "if" one can put an Evo IX engine in an VIII... but would you want to, and why?
