if you are feeling vibrations through your clutch pedal maybe the flywheel or clutch are making the noise

You WILL have to get your crank reground (depending on the extent of the damage, if it needs alot taken off, it is not recommended), repolish the journals and get a set of bearings that match what they need to be at now. If you replace the bearings and recondition the rods only, all your hard work will be for nothing. It will knock again. Good luck.

get a long socket extension and use it like a stethoscope. With the engine running place one end of the extension on the block down low and the other end in your ear. Move it all over the engine and heads. This can help isolate where the noise is coming from. Dont drive it or run it too long. Since you say the oil was low when the noise appeared, I would say its a spun bearing. Low oil pressure will do this quicky. A rod knock will be very audible and should be present at all rpms, even idle. A spun bearing will do this as well but at first it will not be as loud but as time progresses and the damage gets worse the noise will get louder. Of course, if it is a spun bearing it is chewing up your crank and the rod, metal is going thru all the oil passages and your turbo, all over your cams while they are rotating, your oil pump.....you get the picture.

Sorry to hear your misfortune

I just had a few mechanics over, and they said the noise is DEFINETLY the piston slapping around in there, and he told me to "save" the piston when its replaced, because it looks wild.

I have 500 miles TOPS on it, since all the Fluid change. 2 weeks ago. NEVER smelled smoke, burning oil, saw any smoke. THERE IS NO SPOT on my garage of oil. Where did I lose 5 quarts of oil??? UNLESS IT WASN'T PUT BACK IN!!!!! could I have left the dealership with NO OIL IN THE CAR?? They say yes (the ones who looked at it 10 minutes ago!)

So if I get forged pistons, and repair all the other parts, should I take the head off, and clean out the shavings that could potentiall be in the turbo/head?

yep all you said is correct what happen with my car was slightly different cause the bmw tech was changing the oil pan gasket so they took out the oil pan and when they saw the oil pump it had a lot of dirt so he said we that we should check the rods and bearings and one of them started to have movement and was a little bit scratched so they repaired it, also they measured everything and it was fine, yes i reported to them a small tic tic noise the engine made when they gave the car back it was fine the tic tic went away, the new owner has put like 35000miles on the engine an it is still fine
