Am I missing something here....... if the dealer justed changed the oil shouldn't they repair the engine. Smoked you said it was few quarts low. Have them flip the bill, my dealer would, if we just changed it.

I have to wait till monday till the "boss" returns. If its 2 quarts low, that means they did put the oil in there, and I just burnt it off, but where could 2 quarts in 500 miles go? That is the big mystery question. I am sure they put oil in it, because I barely saw oil on the dipstick, added 3 quarts, and was 1 quart over. SOOOOO, I guess oil starvation can be when you are 1 1/2 -2 quarts LOW, so be careful if you have alot of miles on the car, check it regularly.

No I didn't check, its the one on the passenger side correct? if the "drivers side" of the turbo looks like this in the photo, with NO PLAY on the shaft, could the other side look bad? Thanks for the tip!! I will look, and post photos of it!

no, the lower intercooler pipe is on the cold side of the turbo, but the hotside of the intercooler, if that makes sense.

the licp is the pipe going from the turbo to the intercooler. the upper pipe is the pipe going from the intercooler to the throttle body.

the licp bolts to the turbo right where it looks oily in your first pic, where it turns from silver to black.

What does this oil mean? Blow-by? There is oil on my MAF, the vertical 1/4" wide copper bar in there, is that another indication of something?

Drained the oil, its NOT GRITTY, and I cant see any pieces of anything in there. I had a second opinion and no grit, no pieces. I put the oil in a white container of plastic, THEN drained the oil thru a pillow case to see if it left anything behind. NO!! Someone mentioned possibly the balance shaft belt broke. I did have the oilpump balance shaft "out" 180 degrees for 4K miles. could this have any effect? Do the two sound the same? Spun rod bearing, and a broken belt to the balance shaft??

check the timing belt for correct tension. do a compression test. see if the noise is there with the clutch in and out, if its there for only one its probably clutch related.

I actually thought it did go away with the clutch in, on the way home initially, but it does it sitting there in the driveway in neutral. I am having it taken apart and going to see what it is tomorrow. I will post photos, and tell you what they see as the problem.

Its official, rod bearing has spun!!! Here are some pictures, sorry they are kind of blurry. Again, I saw NO indication when draining the oil, as far as copper chunks, and that gave me a FALSE sence of security that the problem "isn't that bad". well, it is!!

Time for an AMS stroker looks like to me!!!
