When am I going to max out the potential of my IX's turbo??

Ok, here's my question: When am I going to max out the capabilities of the stock IX turbo?

My IX is currently at 360whp (Dynojet)with exhaust, MBC, Buschur intake/intercooler and Walboro pump. 22psi on 93oct. Custom dynoflash.

I'm adding headstuds, 02 housing and alky this month. That should get me to about 400whp on the stock IX turbo.

Now I read that GSC is releasing 280 cams for the IX next month. If they're like most Evo cams, we can maybe expect 30-ish whp from them. That would get me to about 430whp.

I'm sitting here wondering, however, if 430whp is really possible on the stock turbo, even with cams and alky. Those are stupid big numbers, but are they really possible? What I'm asking is, will the stock turbo be maxed out by the alky? And if it's almost maxed out, will the cams even be worth it?

If you think it's worth waiting for the cams, then I'm gonna wait and just get tuned by Al for the alky and cams at the same time.

Opinions??

there have been graphs with cars that have cams and the stuff you're descibing... no one has hit 430 but then again alkie hasn't been used either i don't think... do some 9 turbo searches... i know it's hard since you can't search 9 or ix.

or maybe people that reemmber the threads can link up in here.

Here's a discussion I found about TT's 280 intake cam ("dissapointing" results):
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ight=turbotrix

Here's an IX with HKS 272 cam (382whp-392wtq without alky):
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=199351

TT IX only made 14 more hp with a 272 intake cam:

Most of the IX cam discussions have been limited to doing one cam. GSC is making a set of 280's. Maybe a set of matched cams will make some significant power? GSC is saying they're only making 280s because there don't seem to be significant gains with 264 or 272s on the IX.

i would assume anytime you push the stock turbo over 25 pounds you're technically running the turbo at the limits of it's ability...........

The alky would allow you to push higher boost levels in your car. Being that your at 22lbs now... and the stock turbo will max out at around 25lbs.... I would venture to say that if you install the alky kit, it would definately be time for a larger turbo to support the boost and DEFINATELY a tune. I think that sounds about right.

the stock turbo can do more than 25 psi... I've got mine up to 27, and there is still room for another 1-2 psi. I think with cams and alky he can get over 400hp. I'm guessing 415-420ish... Follow that with a 2.3 stroker and u have one kick *** setup, and some unreal #'s. You could get around 500lb/tq!!!

Max boost for the stock turbo is 25psi. Some say 30 but thats only peak and I dont suggest setting your mbc to 30.

As for your hp increase to 400whp with just arp studs and a 02 housing you are kidding yourself. You may see a 6-7whp gain with the 02 housing and the studs arent even hp altering mods.

There are plenty of people driving VIII's with alky and cams that haven't built their motors, so I don't see how it's different doing the same to an IX.

Um, I'm not sure how I'm "kidding" myself by doing the O2 housing and head studs, the sentence clearly says I'm doing those at the same time I'm doing the alky. At no time did I suggest that I was going to gain hp from headstuds. Go ahead and re-read my first post.

As for the O2 housing, I think more than 7hp will be gained.
