You read my mind, that's exactly what i was thinking. Hence, why i asked does the intake make you slower? The answer is yes!

Man I would like to hear the BOV but since the oem filter is worth the money and pointless to replace, how about the JDM BOV? Wont that increase the turbo sound and still keep everying legit like smog and looks? Plus no power loss right?

Anyone with the k&n drop in and aftermarket BOV - can you hear your BOV pretty well? so far with the stock bov its not too loud. I may consider exchanging my k&n for the HKS RS kit.

my buddy has a aem short ram intake on his IX rs and his buddy has the injen intake on his IX mr and they can feel a slight more power out of their evos. spoolin is louder and a little bit quicker. they can get the most out of the intakes when they get their flash

anything that fits the 05 viii fits the ix... so pretty much all the intakes... stay away from the K & N cone intake... the drop in is fine

Do drop-in filters need a tune?
and i was told that if you get a Ralliart ECU, you can modd your icar to basic bolt-ons (TBE, Intake, BOV, IC Piping etc etc..) and it would count as a flash for bolt- ons, is that true? by replacing the stock ECU with a Ralliart would do the job? wouldnt my gas octane level matter?

just put in a cone filter in place of my stock airbox and could hear the spooling and DV a ot louder now which is cool, though in time i can tell it's gonna annoy the hell out of me.

Whistling, what the hell...no, don't go buy an entire ECU. Just get a flash for $199, sheesh. Just buying a Ralliart ECU doesn't magically make you "tuned" for those mods.

No, a drop-in filter does not require a retune. We've only said that about 8000 times.

For the IX just get a TBE and a flash or tune. Dont sweat the other small stuff with terrible HP returns on your investment.

This thread is so full of newb misinformation i can't believe my eyes.

The HKS intake is a POS, look at this:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=197091

It has been proven in pressure tests, on dynos, etc that stock intake yields no restrictions what so ever. Search, i'm not going to do it for you, but it's true. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't spend enough time researching their car.

If you need noise, looks, and a 50 rpm better spool up time, just get the BR intake.

All the Evo VIII intakes available work on the Evo IX, to answer the original question.
