Not all cheap intercoolers necessarily mean they are bad. But you guys got to remember building a drag-race intercooler is extremely easy. Almost any design, as long as there is enough mass in the intercooler is fine and as long as it doesn't sit in an area to heat soak. The reason for this is that the car makes one pass at full boost for ~10-15 seconds and is shut down. The intercooler may not even have enough time to heat up to "operating" temps. A good intercooler is actually designed for road race / track use in conditions where high boost pressures exist all the time.

Cheers,

Gary

It's been discussed, I believe they will release the IX LICP along with the 2.55" IC pipes that are coming out soon.

Thanks!

From what I hear by people who don't have them, they're cheap and garbage. But from what I hear from people who actually have them and tried them, they're good.
Tried one lost a lot of power, now using an AMS with positive noticeable difference.

I have a ssac fmic, i noticed a 3-4 psi increase in boost after installing the fmic, no noticable power gains although. I plan to log IAT with 2 sensors (before and after) once i get my ems installed.

3-4 psi in boost pressure could either mean:

1. Your previous core had such a high pressure drop and the SSAC FMIC core is so good that the pressure drop has been reduced

2. The SSAC FMIC isn't actually cooling the charged air as much thus your boost pressure is increasing as temperature is increasing.

Not sure which one that is, a bar & plate core traditionally has less of a pressure drop than a tube and fin one, but 3-4 psi increase in boost pressure is very unusual. Usually with the installation of an FMIC you would expect to see very little changes in boost pressure or even a decrease in boost pressure due to a decrease in charged air temp (after all you are probably replacing your intercooler because your stock one is maxxed out).

Cheers,

Gary
