Aftermarket Intercooler

This might be a silly question but it baffles me somewhat: Will an aftermarket intercooler necessitate a retune when initial tune was on stock intercooler? What are the flowrates of the stock intercooler? Are they in the manual?

Gosh 3 questions? Hehehe, well if anybody know an answer that would be great. Thnx Team...

Morning Bump, but WARR can you chime in on this? This is for informational purposes as it pertains to a discussion I am having.

On average the aftermarket cores are larger but less restrictive meaning they take about an equal length of time to pressurize to stock. Assuming you make any minor boost adjustments necessary there really should be no need for a retune.

An intercooler is a consistency mod and assuming boost/spool up is about equal you should really see no difference other than a more consistent car on warmer days.

if it is significantly more free slowing then you will gain horsepower. retune? prolly not dire, but to extract the most from anything it is needed.

I would'nt think that an AM IC reuires a re-tune. I would say that it allows you to take advantage of the colder AF charge and thus re-tune to take advantage of same. In a hot & humid enviroment, say like S. Florida, it would be more noticable & @ WOT runs in the upper rpms.
