Ive tried searching and have found nothin i can use...

Heres the story....
Last night i changed my trans oil to royal purple synchro max...
so i drove around today about 120 miles around freeways and traffic and so on in so cal... no problems... puched it hard.. no problems.. then just about an hour ago i felt like 2nd gear wouldnt grab when i was slowing down... i tried putting into first but it was as if it wasnt there.. the shifter just felt loose.. i was like wtf... then i put it to second.. same thing.. i could take off the clutch and just change from first to second.. and the car would not move nor grab the gears.. it just felt like there was litteraly no first or second.. i pushed the clutch in and put it in third... works perfectly... i had a feeling it had to do with the trans fluid so i got home and i changed it to something thicker.. and when i went off the drive way .. it caught first.. but then not second.. and then the same thing.. it felt like i have no first or second... i got mad so i started to take things apart.. and i have a feeling it has soemthing to do with the shifter linkage on top of the tranny.. check everything.. everything is intact nothign seems loose... then i tell my lil bro to get inside and try to put it to first or second.. everything moves but no engagement or any inside movent i decided to take apart the top of the tranny so i can see the inside so i took off the shift cables took of the lil cover with the levers that make it shifts gears.. eveyurhting looks normal.. now im just lost...

if anyone could please help me... its 12:30am... and i need to leave my house at 5am to willow springs for a event with my car...

update i took off the shift linkage thats on the tranny.. i notice the the levers with notches in them tha tlook like U's the one for first and second moved towards the rear of the car and out of the way of the linkage... that is why it feel slike there is no first or second... now my question is ....

Is this suposed to be able to move? is is the problem deeper in the tranny?

 

i just solved my own problem... blah.. shift fork must be broken... uuuugggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

i waited a whole month! a whole month missing the track.. and nnow this.. aaaahhhh man.. this is the worste feeling ever...

well.... i guess now its time to find out who has had this problem.. i did a search under broken shift fork and i got alot of the same issue... i cant go to the dealer cuz... tranny has been tampered alot... 2 clutches... and i just opened up the shift linkage...

i anyone had to fork out the money.. let me know how it went and how you found out this problem.. just want to hear stories now so i can find out wut i got myself into...

can you tell us updates on your tranny??? how much did it cost to fix?

I just grinded my tranny a bit going to second gear and now notice that 1st and 2nd is a bit looser than usual.... the car still works fine tho.... any big problems arising soon?

will the shifter loosed up after a SHORT while? my car is pretty new.

haha your screen name and your post is what was funny. Busted, maybe a little, miss-shifts are never great. I edited my post to add those links.

 

part of the reason why it grinded (aside from my noobie ***) was the tightness of the lever... now if only my tranny could forgive me, everything should be fine now since shifting from 1-2 is a bit quicker and smoother.... I hope

5th is still a bit too tight... maybe if I could grind it a bit...... hehe.... joke.

first grind @ around 580 miles. The only way to learn how to drive hard is try, right? hehe.

lastly my screenname. hehe... I was never good at Gran turismo and never beat more than half the game hence the name. I'm trying to see if I'm better in real life.

 

ya, our trans are a bit notchy - just how it is. keeping the fluid fresh also helps a lot. BG/BG II synco @ 15k for D/D or more depending on how much you race it. For track day driving, Id change that about every other event.

have you ever adjusted your clutch pedal? I adjust mine at about every 10k.

lol, I prefer the slow and steady method to learning something new. ha, and GT is way not real life! lol, if it were I would be driving the crap out of my car as if money were nothing...and well Id also have about 250 cars in my garage
