I'm not looking for some overpriced jdm piece...just looking for something that is reliable, great construction, good welds, good materials.....I'm not really going to discriminate on prices....

would also like to know what are pros and cons of running 2.75" vs 3" dp on a IX that plans to be around 350-400 whp

Im a New here just got a New 06 EB Evo. Its a blast to drive. Im glad I found this thread. So whats the best Bang for the buck? Looks like TTP has a killer price. Also what are the Pros of the other brands? What are the prices on the other DPs? Helix, Tanabe, Buschur ect. Do any Vendors have a killer price on a Turbo Back exhaust. From what I have read. I think Im going to get a nice DP and a Ebay cat back, its looking like about $500-$575 for that setup.

Well for the evo 9 fitment will be the crucial thing. However, you cant go wrong if you go custom. IMHO buschur, ams, or rnr make great pieces. I have seen all 3 and they all look great. I wuold go with a 3in tbe. Anythign less would be pointless IMHO.

If I were you I would get the whole thing from one vendor. Instead of piecing it here and there. You will end up with an exhaust that has fitment issues.

Again depending on what you like whethor it be bling or power and of course sound preferences is going to predicate your decision on a particular exhaust. First figure out what kind of cound you like then pick a muffler then go to a venodr and tell them what you want and they will do the rest.

I keep hearing this time and time again.

Evo IX downpipes are the same as Evo VIII.

If it fits 2005 w/ ACD, it fits 2006 IX.

Well yeah but thats the only 8 it will fit due to it having the acd. Try taking one off of a 03 or 04 and fitting it on a evo 9. I can tell you right now it wont fit. I also guess it would depend on the dp. Most production ones wont. However, custom ones are diff cause they are of ocurse custom.

Anyhow my point wasnt the fitment issues between the diff evos it was the point that a evo 9 dp is a pain in the **** to fit correctly and instal without it having any clearance issues.

I don't think we are on the same page.

If it fits the 2005 VIII with ACD, it will also fit 2003-2004 as well as 2006 IX and MR.

There is no difference in a 2006 IX downpipe from a 2005 VIII. They are identical.

If it fits 2006, then it fits 2003-2006. If it fits 2005, than it fits 2006.

This is the point.

Helix v2 - 3"
Espelir - 2.75"
Tanabe - 2.75"
Bitz - 2.75"
RNR - 3"
Buschur - 3"
AMS - 3"
TTP Engineering - 3"
*And I believe Megan Racing will be releasing their new redesigned downpipe sometime in the future... might want to look out for it. It will also be 3".

These are the downpipes I have read about, and heard fit the IXs with no modifications necessary. If I am wrong, please correct me . Thanks!

Personally, I would like to have a full 3" tbe. Incase in the future I am pushing more than 400whp, I won't have to buy a new downpipe. The 2.75" inchers are still good up to 400whp though. So if you're not planning to even hit that number, then you can get a 2.75" for absolute fitment.

Megan Racing's new catback is already released and has been installed on our customer cars and IX's.

They are available in stock from us as we speak, ready to ship

It has to be from a 2005 Evo with ACD... not a 2003.

Perrin 3" DP Evo IX

It fit, but the build quality is not even close to Fujitsubo on my 8.

With RSR EX Mag, megan resonated, Perrin dp - it hit the last bar slightly, needs washers. Looks like they are buying premade flanges then sticking them on. My DP slipped in the mandrel bender leaving some marks. Where they welded the pipe to the short section of pipe/flange at the turbo side they did a poor job of removing the internal lip of the pipe.
