Best downpipe on a IX??? Fitment/quality/craftsmanship/performance

Best downpipe for a IX???

I'm not looking for some overpriced jdm piece...just looking for something that is reliable, great construction, good welds, good materials.....I'm not really going to discriminate on prices....

would also like to know what are pros and cons of running 2.75" vs 3" dp on a IX that plans to be around 350-400 whp

Speed element just test fitted some espelir on some evos with ACD and they did not fit. Im holding out for my 249 $ Tanabe downpipe that IMO has the best fit. Good luck spending 369 on the works "overpriced" USDM piece.

I wanted the Espelir to go with the JGT 500 exhaust. Couldnt find one in the time frame I needed, so I went with the Tanabe. Quality is great, nice welds, nice looking, thick flanges. Fit was perfect, cleared everything just fine.

Havent dynoed the car yet, not till I get my tune (Al are you listening?). But mated with a resonated cat delete and the Espelir exhaust this thing sounds pissed, really pissed! At WOT when the turbo spools it sounds like hell is trying to escape from the back of my car. Its great, closest thing to a Champ cars going under the overpasses at Long Beach I have heard.

When I choose my downpipe I always want one with a flex section and retains the stock donut flange. The Blitz 2.75" dp meets all those needs. It performs well also, the low-end and mid-range torque is pretty good.

Just curious, does anybody know if the DP that is in the APS 3.5" TBE setup fit a 9 well? I had it on my '04 and it fit nicely, but I don't know how the fitment is with the IX.

not 100% sure, but i don't think it would fit because it won't clear the acd on the IX.

yep.. the new batch of Espelir 2.75" downpipes that we recently got were all bad.. .. did not come even close to fit w/ stock cat nor test pipe. Had to sent them all back to our regional distributor..

So far the Tanabe 2.75" and Blitz 2.75" downpipe fit the best for EVO IX. zero clearance issues, great results on-street or on-dyno. test proven!

Thanks

Calvin

I just installed an Espelier dp on my car yesterday. Not only did it clear ACD but I was also able to put the swaybars back on without spacers.
Oh, and it's sounds REALLY good with a tp and Blitz nur spec catback.
