additionally, something i never see mentioned is the weight of the downpipe. i only mention this because i think it's important and also because it's never been brought up.

i know the helix is very chunky and the meagan is really light.
Most ppl have their rides posted in their sig.... Mine is 2006 SSL and the pipe is the V2 Helix. I seriously doubt the weight means squat. Seriously, they're just polished stainless. I guess you could save a pound or two depending on the thickness, but I'm not losing sleep over a couple pounds on a 3300lb car. It would make more sense for me to lose some weight off the spare tire around my waste

Not on my V2. Its fitment was flawless.... which is really saying something for a 3" piece.

I can't speak to the V1 though... I've heard it may have had some issues.

2.75" is suited for the stock turbo with the stock valvetrain (~250whp range). Anywhere above that you're going to start seeing gains going to a 3" system. Obviously the more power you make (the more exhaust gas flowed) the more benefits to a 3" downpipe.

Thanks,

Gary

plus one on the ttp dp...i had to take it to a local muffler shop and they said it was touching the oil pan, but i've heard no rattles. it's a great, high quality piece....i love the price and the flex pipe. i can't wait to get tuned to see the real result of everything i've put on

Read pages 1-5 of this post

You really need to have a better air filter situation, MBC, and I recommend a better LICP to go with that TBE and tune to get the sweet spot of the IX.

I did 333whp on a Mustang dyno with mine @23psi and 91 pump gas. Dynojet should be at least 350, but Im waiting for cooler weather for the trip to phx.

If you're only doing TBE and tune.... I would say somewhere between 260-280whp on a Mustang dyno give or take. Thats an informed guess.... I haven't seen too many with only exhaust and tune.

I wonder how big a difference a 2.75" pipe (which seems to be the standard for JDM pipes) and 3" pipe (more common for US makers) differs in performance? Probably nothing?

Read the 23457 pages of the Buschur dynotesting thread before spreading untrue rumors.

as far as fitment on the IX, here's an update on a rumor i heard that's been confirmed by evomoto after asking DCsports at my request. about 2 months ago DCsports revamped their cat eliminator 3" downpipe to properly fit ACD equipped 05+ evo's, so add theirs to the proper fitting list. on DC's website, the pipe is listed as fitting 05+ MR's where before it was only listed for 03-04, and i had one in early 05 that rattled on my transfer case, it was a nice piece though with a built in cat-delete, so i may give it another try since it's been updated.

Are you implying that Buschur did in fact dyno test the difference between using 2.75" piping and 3" piping? I presume you mean he did and that 3" piping yielded significant... 10HP or more... improvements with the 3"?

I wonder why the JDM ones are so often 2.75" if so... could it be the JDM car's Super-AYC or something get in the way, where USDM cars do not have this problem, perhaps?

So is the flex pipe critical?

So have we concluded anything with this post? Which one offers the best fitment, price, gains and reliability?
