cool, good to know. but does MIVEC make a difference, like i stated earlier? I hear the 9 is different from the 8 and MIVEC does help with any kind of low end torque loss.

Stock MIVEC settings are not optimized. A good tune with optimized MIVEC settings definitely improves low end torque.

with MIVEC tuning, sure you can adjust the spool up and it will affect the low end torque. But as far as changing 2.75 to 3" with no mivec tuning, there should be no torque loss from what I have seen.

Here's a response I got from a WORKS guy:
Yes, the 76mm DP will reduce low-end torque but the change is so small (4 to 6lb ft.) that you will most likely not feel the difference. The MIVEC does reduce this somewhat, but we have seen the reduction on the dyno. The Throttle Body does not help in low end torque and provides higher end power. The change occurs after 4K rpm. The Throttle Body improves throttle response, so it does lower the torque peak by 50 to 75rpm, but it doesn't change the torque average.

I have the full tanabe concept G blue exhaust....downpipe and all...BEST fitment ever....also the downpipes with the flew in them are due to improper fitment. The tanabe fits up to your stock components or the full exhaust. Im happy with the quality and fitment. NO ISSUES....also JDM quality....

i've also been hearing that the 3" downpipe really pays off when you get the cams upgrade. also, the cams do bring back any low-end torque, if low-end torque was an issue...

I have the Megan 3" DP. Perfect fitment on my Evo9 and it did not hurt my pocket.

+1 great fitting/looking/performing exhaust. Fit's MR with ACD perfect as well.

Also, TTP's 3" DP fit the IX as well although I think the flex section was kind of close if I recall.

I will never purchase another HKS exhaust part. Their expensive catback rubs the driveshaft on a IX and people still continue to recommend their junk. HKS exhaust sucks, has taper, small DP, rubs exhaust.

These are the only 3 that I have first hand experience with.

Tanabe DP fits beautifully but it's only 2.75" and with all this debate over 2.75" vs. 3" I'm questioning whether I should sell it and go to a 3"....

I have the Tanabe DP as well and I need to figure out if I should get a 3" DP.

I have upgraded cams and the e-bay O2" housing and do not want to sacrifice my low end torque unless the peak gains are significant!

Yes, our downpipe works with any 3" aftermarket cat that I have seen to date. If you are sticking with the stock cat though you will want to order our 2.5" downpipe, running a 3" downpipe up to the stock cat is not a good idea.

Kinda like running a stock cat at all

If you HAVE to have a cat, there are nice 3" 100 cell metal substrate units to be found.

(NOT from me BTW)
