Advice Wanted - EBC & TBE

So I'm at that point where its time to do my first mods for my 06 Evo MR.

I'm going to go w/ a TBE and then throw in an Electronic Boost Controller. Now I know some of you may say go get ECUTek or something like that but I dont want to fully void my warranty and I'd rather be able to tune it depending on where I drive it in the country (I'll be driving this cross country and am afraid that if its tuned in MA it wont work as well in someplace like CO). Basically I'll sacrifice the power lost due to an untuned car for driveability.

At anyrate, has anyone done this before? Its a standard way to mod on a WRX but I dont know that much about EVO's.

Whats the max one can set the boost at?

Anything I should know? Can anyone recommend a good EBC?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

I'd say stay around 20 psi. As for TBE's I'd go with AMS or Buschur, both are great brands and build quality. I have the forge MBC, and it works like a charm.

I would think it would be fine at 22 PSI, but being an EVO n00b can somebody please explain why that would be a bad idea?

Cheers

running more boost than stock without being tuned for it is asking for trouble. If your worried about warranty buy the tactrix cable, use ECUFLASH to copy your stock map to disk and burn it on CD for later use. Then get a custom / mail in tune for the mods you are putting on and you will always be able to return you ecu to stock if you need to take it to the shop. I'm a newb too but I know this - running more boost without more fuel / timing is asking for a blown engine.

Oh yea as far as boost controllers go, I've got a forge mbc that works great but I'm going to upgrade to the AEM Truboost cause I need a better boost gauge as well and I got the AEM Uego and they match and I've heard good things about the AEM EBC.

Get a MBC,much more simple. You can run 23~24psi of boost on 9 due to better knock sensor and better cooling.

I agree that w/ more boost you need to modify your fuel ratio, but it seems to me that 22-23psi is safe w/out the tune.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Thx in advance.
