<--- has never done a boost leak test in the 2 years i have owned the car.

I hold 21 psi to the redline so i figured that was good enough!

OK, lessons learened from your screw-ups....

Boost leak test - must do!
Rod bolts - should do! (Upgraded to must do over 350 AWHP!)
PIITB - Not if she is under 18!

I have the fighter-garage presure tester. It works good!

Your boost will only not hold boost to redline if there is a huge leak... My car still holds to redline but has 2 (now 1) substantial leaks, which is hurting performance.

Kev, nice post. I had the same bad misfortune like you. Had the car on the dyno with Martin friday afternoon and he said my car wasn't holding boost. We had to pulled the car of the dyno. What a waste of time. Today my car is back to ams and it turn out my MBC is bad and a few minor leaks. So to added to your lesson make sure you have a good working MBC and check for boost leaks. I too made my own boost leak tester but if you want to save the headache running around looking for the parts I would just cough up the 12 dollars for the premade kit. Kevin, I heard you are attending the ams customer appreciation day. Let me know if you are coming up here.

Hey Wayne!! good to hear from you again!!! I think AMS is waiting for me to get the car together, and say "I am ready", then I will get a true dyno run, with the METH on!!! I had a wasted trip also to the dyno, JUST BECAUSE of not checking the boost leaks FIRST!!! I will be going to the AMS appreciation day, even if they DON'T appreciate me! jk. I will let you know when I get up there.

You can get the fitting I mention, and the one that comes on the prebuilt units on the site posted on the third page, at any store that sells compressor parts. It's just the male coupler that goes on your air tools that you connect the air hose to. This fitting obviously flows a ****load more than a tire valve, and makes it possible to keep pressure in the system with really big leaks. If you have access to a compressor when you do your tests, the airline coupler is the way to go. If you have to use an airtank, you may be stuck with a tire valve depending on the tank.
