i would think the torque capacity would have a larger effect than the hp capacity.

People forget all the Synchro issues with the 5 Speeds. IMHO I really blame the drivers for all the Transmission issues I have been seeing. I have had both and I prefer the 6speed. The 5speed is the weapon of choice as it is better gear for Drag Racing.
