I had the same problem with my '05: notchiness and less than smooth as butter shifting.

What I did to COMPLETELY fix the problem:
BG Syncroshift II fluid...silky smooth all the time, even when its chilly outside
Agency Power short shifer and bushings...keeps it nice and tight(the way we like it
Ingalls Engine dampner...really stiffened the driving...made the car feel WAY more complete

I had been running Motul fluid, but it only lasted about 3k miles before the notchiness came back.

Today I installed my clutchline and removed the restrictor pill from the slave cylinder. Unfortunately my hands were too big to thread the banjo bolt back onto the master cylinder and now there's a dozen crush washers under the brake booster, so I borrowed some smaller hands. After I bled the clutch and wiped all of the blood and brake fluid down I took her out for a test drive.

There seems to be a titch more freeplay in the pedal. It's much easier to engage the clutch pulling out of intersections and all of that kind of stuff. More importantly the notchiness is virtually non-existent. The overall shifting has drastically improved whether normal driving, or speed shifting.
I would definatley recommend a clutch line and restrictor pill removal for some first mods. It fixed two of my only three complaints with the car.

i used the WORKS line too, it's a nice piece. try bleeding the clutch again, make sure to push/pull the pedal slowly. my clutch pedal feels exactly as it was + the great shifting action now.

I used a vaccum bleeder, but I'm debating bleeding it the good ol' manual way.

I may eventually try the "band aids" but am going to give the tranny some time to wear (~2,000 miles now) first
Well I can let you know that after 5k the the trans did shift much better especially on the 2-3 shift, but flushing the fluid, replacing the weak pos engine mounts and putting on a stiffy will really cure the problem.

It would also be a good idea to adjust the clutch pedal, check out evomoto.com for a detailed how-to.

i never tried a power bleeder. i bought a speedbleeder instead. still it was pita, 4-5 reps on the pedal and back up to refill the reservoir. someone on here mentioned the slave cylinder might trap air and recommended to pump the pedal slowly to give the bubbles time to move.

What is the difference between the bushings that go on the shifter and the bushings that go in the engine? Is it beneficial to replace both of them or is it not necessary?
