Clutches for the $...

long story short.. My tranni broke due to clutch issues... Luckily the tranni can be salvaged, but the clutch needs to be replaced. I had an ACT clutch on there, but I need to replace the clutch.

What is the best clutch for the $???

1) ACT

2) Exedy Stage 1 Organic Material

3) Exedy Stage 2 Cerametalic

4) Others????

Thanks.

i have a ats triple carbon and love it. 1.6 to 1.7 60' every time and daily drives better than any other that i have driven, exedy single and exedy twin carbon,

down side is the price though.

You mean Exedy stage 2 Cerametallic?

I have a Ralliart cerametallic clutch (virtually identical to a Exedy #0592 stage 2)

CtSilver03Evo - what was the tranny issue that took out it out? Cerametallics are more like on-off switches, and will be a bit harsher on the drivetrain because of their lack of slipage.

I don't have too much experience with other clutches but between the act and the exedy twin plate, I would definitely take the twin plate...

I just bought an Exedy single for $390, definately not an overkill for the application but I'll see how it does soon.

If it works out then $390 aint bad at all, but fast spooling stock turbo combined with alc induced torque at lower RPMs has me worried. If at low enough RPM, it doesn't take much torque for a modest clutch that can hold well up top to slip

Are you installing it yourself?

I actually like my 6 puck ACT quite a bit. Easy to drive and I know it'll hold at least another 300+ ft/lbs than what I'm making.

I got the Exedy single from GSC and it's a typical kit that includes, disc, pressure plate assy, release bearing (same PN as stock), and guide. It's rated 80'/lbs above stock and since my car is about 90'/lbs over stock then it should work fine. It just depends on at what RPM is it rated 80 over, but anyway $390 for parts I got is a deal no matter what, it should hold fine (I'll know by next week).

The one I got isn't shown at the GSC site but a call to the boss or one of his wiseguys will find one

I absolutely LOVE my Exedy Twin, but I hear great things about the Tilton. If I ever get another bad **** racing clutch, I'll probably give Tilton a try.
