Tonight, when i was going home from work, I start off in 1st gear onto the freeway and decide to give it some gas up to about 6k rpm. Right when I shift into 2nd, i hear another car flooring it and a Camaro floors it past me, so i just put it into neutral and let him by (it was a merge). Then for some dumb reason, when I let off the clutch, I guess in the whole rush of the situation, I did'nt rev match all the way into 2nd and after I release the clutch, my transfercase makes a LOUD whinning noise. On the freeway on the way home, in 5th gear, my transfercase was making a slight, but pretty noticable whine/howl... so what did I screw up? By the time I got home and was driving 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear, it did'nt seem to make the noise..

BTW: I have an Exedy twin plate clutch w/ a works ss clutch line w/ the restirctor pill removed...

 

if you hear it around 55mph and gets higher pitch there you go. as it gets worse you'll hear it at any MPH. That hows mines was. I got mine replaced after i returned everything back to stock on t he car. How many mile you have on yours. Mines had 15k

 

Yeah, I just drove my car to work right now. I noticed it only occurs at higher speeds like 45mph + and then when you put it in neutral to slow down, it seems to wind down and still make the noise... What is the noise from? Mine has around 10k btw.
