First time at the track: Race gas & broken clutch

I want to go to the track today and this would be my first time with this car. I have a two step from my Dynoflash and I want to use it. My question is if I use it and side step my clutch, what is the possibility I break it the first time? I have about 31xxx miles and the clutch was changed at 15xxx by Mitsubishi and it feels good right now.

Also, if I put in race gas with an almost empty gas tank, what is a safe boost level to go up to without a wide band o2?

You will be fine! Do a controlled dump of the clutch. dont just let the foot off as fast as you can, it is too much of a load on the drivetrain. you will be fine.

First, it you use the 2 step and sidestep it you can really hurt something. Thats serious instant load on the drivetrain. Possibility of breaking it doing that - good.

Wondering why you changed it at 15k...guessing you are new(ish) to standard trans?

Here is the tech. w/2step.

At the lights use shallow stage. This means as soon as you engage the 1st amber, slowly roll into the 2nd amber. As soon as that is lit, stop. ((This gives you a few extra inches to get it moving before the timers come on.))

Clutch in, gas to the floor, bouncing off 2step. Walk the clutch out a little bit just to the point that you feel all the slack coming out of it. Almost to the point of moving the car - hold it right there.

Amber, amber, green --- walk the clutch back fast but not dumbing. Hold on for dear life and you are off and running.

When done right it feels like all 4 are spinning and you are going like a bat-outta-hell.

On stock turbo and cams shift at 6800 to 7000 in all gears. You should be in 4th through the traps.

Now, what are your mods? TBE no cat? Either way only use unleaded gas. I like 100-104 unleaded.

I do not have a WB O2. Generally on 100+ I run 25-26 spike, then down to 23-24 at 6800 (my mods are vvv).

Post up here how you did.

And good luck!

(one more thing...please for the love of puppies...take out cars that are stolen or sold from you drives info. They dont matter anymore - they are gone, let them go. I had to read through it just to see what Evo we are talking about here...just a suggestion...)
