Is there any intake does not require a tune?

I bought the HKS RS intake and my ran like total crap with it on. I guess the pipe is just too big and it can't compensate?

Do drop in filters make the turbo louder, or is that only aftermarket intakes?

Drop in filters are the only thing that doesn't require a tune, and no, they do not make your turbo louder.

My car ran fine with an AEM intake on the car with out a flash for 4-5 months. I dynoed 272 whp on a Dyno Jet with a AEM intake and a 3 in TBE. Thats it. Stock boost and fuel. I was still richer then 10:1 in the high RPMs. BUT u will still make make more power with a "Tune" and a GOOD intake then you would "tune" amd stock airbox with no other differences. I need to hit the dyno again soon after all the new parts in the past 6 months.

I would also like to add with out Editing that there are better things to spend the money on first before the intake. But I beleive IS needed at a point before 400WHP. Thats the commmon number that everyone says is the magical number a intake is needed. There are so many more thigns to do before an intake BUT if u get a good one and mod ur car right it should never be a regret. I would stick to BR Stages. They are about as good as they can be. and they also have a lesser known Power Package that is alot of power and all at once and still cheaper then stage 1 and 2 together.

people were saying intakes did not make their car run crappy, so i got 1, and mine did not run at all ... stalled out on idle, bogged horridly when i regularly drove it ... all that good stuff.

so now, i guess i have to either get a drop in and keep the air box, or a maf-circular adapter and a cone filter ... whats better?

id figure a cone filter vs a drop in w/ the airbox..... but i don;t know much about evos

Since you already spent the money... find someone with a cable and get a Jestr M1 flash for $50.

(Drop in filter is going to cost around that much unless you buy a used one....... from someone like me ) But might as well get the car mildly tuned, the flash can compensate for the boost taper etc.

well the thing is, the stock intake is back on the car, so, inorder to get it tuned, id need to take it to a place up in pompano, have the car cool off for a few hours, so i could remove the stock intake, then install the aftermarket one, and assume they still had time to do it .... its either that, or pay for them to install it

I have a HKS RS on my car and it runs great... not even tuned yet. Actually, I can tell it made power too.

You probably have it installed wrong

Slow, what you did is liek the blitz filter holder ... thats actually a pretty cool idea i didn't even think of that. is your filter fully secured in there? does it still run well?

I have a K & N drop in filter and it works fine without a tune. I'm going to keep this filter and the stock air box with all my future mods. I have no need or desire to ever change it to an aftermarket intake.

the filter is secured in place by the top lid. I just milled a "big hole" on the top cover.

there is nothing like the stock air box for the stock MAF!
