Evo Problems. Attempting To Self Fix.!!!

I live in flushing, queens, NYC.

So my worst nightmare coming true, i guess everyones had their share of evo trouble.

I was driving with my friend on whitestone expressway near 20th ave, i was accelerating FAST, at 60 mph i tried to shift into 5th and the stick wouldn't go in 5th (mostly probably dude to my lack of skill, i've just got this car 2 weeks ago), and so i heard the grinding noise, then i finally jammed it into 5th, i go another 100 feet and pop, i hear something and my engine dies, my steering wheel gets stiff and i roll onto the side lane.

Im like damn it, i think i just broke my clutch. So i restart car, put it in 1st gear and try to move... the car just revs and doesn't move anywhere faster than 5mph.. if i try to rev over 3,000rpm and let go of clutch the car will jerk like hell and stall. Also theres tons of black smoke coming out of the exhuast. I figure trying to drive it is out of the question.

Me and my friend check out the engine bay, no leaks, no steam, nothing looks really bad. Weird? I look at my right passenger front wheel, and one lugg is messed up, you can't tighten it nor can you pull it out.

I live around Northern blvd flushing, im really broke at this moment so i went cheap and decided not to call a tow. So me and my buddy thought of pushing... Not fun, we couldn't even push it out of the highway and into the service way, ALL HILLS. damn SOB.

So i get back in the car, start the engine and haul *** all the way home, driving in the opposite lane of the expressway to northern blvd near mainst. At freaking 5 mph me and my friend nearly died from the exhuast fumes. Fun

Alright, i get my broken car into my driveway, go to sleep. Next morning call a tow and get to a place called "First Class auto" on prince st. After 5 hours trying to figure out whats wrong with the car they can't figure it out. However they did figure out that the engine is alright, the pressure isn't that low, i think the guy said the pressure was like 40 pounds or something in the chamber. They connect the car with a Scanner pda, and the computer says 1). Missfire something 2). 02 something. I got no cat so i figure i know thats the 02 thing for, but i dunno whats the missfire comment about. They came to believe that my regulator has a problem so i gotta order one from mitsu dealer to replace, and thus they said they can't gaurantee anything and kicked me out of there store because they don't have space for my evo to sit during the days the regulator is coming. They didn't charge me nothing so i didn't complain, i did wasted 80 dollars on towing from 123 towing but its ok.

i haul my *** home again.

I run to a place called TFT to try to find an aftermarket regulator, i got one quickly. Its a Sard. So i run home with the piece and find out that the nipple they gave me its a big jumble nipple. I figure this would be impossible and theres no auto stores open, lets try again tommorow.

That was all yesterday.

Today, i started working on my baby again. I ran to a auto part whole sale place on prince st. Got a set of wrenches, some tube, some baby zip ties, and started to work,oh yea also got the right nipples . It was quite a headache but i managed to do it, well maybe. I start the car and so... it leaked like hell. So i panic like a little girl and call TFT again and ask them about my SARD nipples, they ask me if i put Teflon around the sockets and stuff, and they say no and they say no **** u would leak. I run to home depot to pick up a tool to remove the spark plugs, they are probably fried. And i talk to this guy that reconmened me to this place called RPM. I told him about my problem and he said its probably a vaccum and something else , i forgot. I worry more, maybe its a biggger problem then fuel regulator???????

I had to run a delivery so I couldn't work on it, i can continue now but its freezing outside, and i got no light but a mag lite. Tommorow is another day.

Any, ANY THING YOU CAN SAY HELP ME. PLEASE ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Somewhere between the turbo and intake manifold you will find (90 % sure) that a hose has blown off.

definately sounds like a blown off intercooler hose. Check all of them. Check all of them. Check all of them. What are you going to do? Check all of the intercooler hoses.

Follow the pipe that comes out of your throttle body and keep going to where you find that it is no longer connected, reconnect and tighten the clamp down tight, smile and realize that this was all that your problem was.

Hey, I have a really bright idea. Try to keep hot objects away from fuel sources. Okay? Another +1 for a blown off intercooler hose.

Don't count on water making it a safe work place. Gas with water on it will still burn. Also, the water could get into the electrical and cause further problems. I'd suggest just letting it evaporate.

The gas will probably evaporate pretty quickly. A weak water/simple green solution would probably work best. It would leave your engine bay pretty clean as well.

Nothing in the engine bay will be hurt by a light splash of water. All of the important electrical bits have seals/covers over them to keep them dry. We do have a large hole in our hood after all

Just so he knows a light splash of water doesn't mean it is okay to push the car into a carwash for a nice 600 psi washdown of the engine compartment.
