I'm no expert but shouldn't you of used loc-tite on every metal to metal connection? BTW sorry to hear about the situation, good luck with the re build.

what kind of alky kit was this? looking to buy one in like a month... kind of scared now. i've had enough catastrophic failures back to back

transmission was down for 4 months. had the car a month and the head blew. that took a month to fix.

so yah in the last half a year i've driven my only car and daily driver for 1 month. hmmm... i really want alky though =\

if your looking at the 20g 9-5 then yes Alky is a good idea......this is not the kits fault this is human error..... mostly.. and the nozzle is a little weak but... not the main cause.

Should use a one-way check valve on the line feeding to the nozzle as well as bead welded the nozzle onto the UICP so it can't unscrew itself and caulk around it using some sort of adhesive so unmetered air isnt being sucked in from around the nozzle.

well.... i just used what was offered in the kit. I understand what your saying and yes that makes alot more sense. However, i call it a poor design. And this is a well known kit, so i would expect it to be secure, Esp. since people are already scared outta there minds about ALKY injection.. ....

I dont think that for the kits that are offered there are enough fail safes but for power to be dependant on an unreliable souce to me isnt great engineering.....

Take a your injectors for instance. You power is dependant on your Fuel pump and injectos.... If either fail, most likely to blow you motor or cause some nasty problems.

An Alky kit should be designed in the same manor. Fool, Idiot and fail proof...Again... i think its under engineering that cause these problems. Like my own. I feel that my problem Yes although human, is STILL a design issue.

Sorry to hear that.

The nozzle placement has been an issue for me as well...

Snow says in the instruction manual that you can insert it into the rubber part of the IC piping and use Goop to hold it there...DON'T. Luckily I tested this while keeping the boost low because it shot it right out!

Next I put it in the aluminum part of the IC piping by threading it in. Well it obviously wasn't so tight that it wouldn't leak, so I used Goop around it as well. Problem here was the very small area that was not tight put enough pressure to blow a hole in the Goop causing a boost leak.

Finally I had my mechanic weld a bung into the aluminum IC pipe and screw the nozzle in. Not a single leak, no need for Goop, and no boost leaks. This is the ONLY way to go IMHO.

Good luck with the rebuild!
