Head Cam Caps swap

Hey guys need advise.

I just got a used head in replacement of my Bushur racing one that has hairline crack. Now the Cam caps would not fit the same way they did for the old head. Are they swappable or each head has to have its own cam caps?
What is the way to make it work? ??

Please let me know.
Alex

cam caps are not interchangable either in position on the same head or from diffrent heads,

during assembly of the head, the cam caps are bolted to the head & then line bored to ensure a precise fit

Your only option if you don't have the right caps is to have a machine shop cut the caps down and re-bore it.

just because "it fits" does not mean it is correct.

Maybe it's things like this why you have had so many issues in the past.

You wouldn't swap main bearing caps from one block to another would you? Or Connecting rod caps?

None of them are made to be interchangeable.

I've seen heads that had the wrong caps that "seemed" fine, you could rotate the cams by hand, etc. But after very short mileage pulled the caps and two of them were smeared to ****. The aluminum is soft and gets out of the way, and it may continue to run fine for a while, but it's no way to run a motor.
