Look at 14.2 on the X-axis, and 200 on the Y-axis. That's where I hit 21psi at ~3800rpm. That's what the boost controller is set to reach (at least, that's what it was set to reach using the IX turbo on the same upgraded actuator). From that initial boost shelf, it creeps up about 2psi -- offering greater torque/load which peaks at about 5200rpm and then tapers back down to the original 21psi setting. This is precisely what I said in my original post, and I don't believe 21psi at 3800rpm equates to a "laggy turbo." I'm tempted to try a +1/-1 cam gear setting and see how much earlier boost comes on.

I haven't driven the car enough to know if the creep is just the EBC "learning" the curve of the new turbo, or if it's the HP actuator, or if it's just how this turbo works. If there's no correcting it, I'm actually fine with that since the extra boost actually comes on at the perfect time (just after torque peak--where knock is most likely), and tapers before things get out-of-hand at redline.

Since you spent time in my thread I figured I'd come into this one and make one post.

I can count atleast 7 items on your car that are hurting the performance of it and could be improved. Using this car as a test bed to show what this turbo is capable of is silly but the more EVO's I see come through here with a mix match of messed up combinations and parts choices on I guess in reality it is more typical than it should be.

Just remember, don't hold the turbo accountable for the power this car puts out if and when it finally hits the dyno.

Good luck and I hope you are happy with how the car runs. You'd make more power and have a better car if the combo was put together better, IMHO.

I'm all ears, David. What are the 7+ items?

More interested to see if it will hold the 30+psi at 8000rpms cammed like Dave stated in the other thread.

This data is pretty much useless without a tune I checked out your logs.. timing is all over the place.. 2* at 5200 (or around there) with a peak of 12*.. I would assume this is 91oct gas (may have been stated already).

Feigning a guess, he doesn't like your injectors (they are a little small), your intake setup (which seems mixmatched to me), your exhaust setup (probably because they're not his),
your down pipe and 02 housing setup (same reason), your bov (which I would probably upgrade but is an alright bov), and the magnacores (which really don't sway me one way or the other).

Don't forget the original intentions of this thread.

From the first page ...

It's just not worth $400 ($175x2+tax) to get the dyno data. If you'd like to see a dyno sheet of my car in its current state with the new turbo, I'll be happy to accept a PayPal transfer from 9 people in the amount of $20 each and go to a nearby dyno within the next few days.

Agreed on the wires, but what's wrong with a resonated test pipe?

Pd1, you've provided good information. I must say you are brave to try out the new turbo. And as he said, this is only preliminary information. There is still much tuning to be done.
I must agree. Pd1 keep us posted on the progress with the tuning.

That is just silly. Those parts don't affect the power output that much when properly tuned.
And a 3" resonator pipe doesn't cut much power either, yet in turn makes the car a lot more quite and acceptable in certain neigborhood.

This does not sound like a bad combo.

A bad combo would include a true HKS mushroom filter which this does not.
