max boost stock turbo

i tried search didnt help much , i have a few questions , but first the car. a evo 9 mr warrt stage 1, witch is aBR 3inch turbo back cat delete, mailin dyno flash, mbc, boost guage, car ran very strong , hats off to wattr and BR, but after 10 months i really got the bug and it wasent enough, my next round of mods just last month, aem EBC , aem A/F ratio guages, BR upper and lower IC piping ,BR intercoller , 10.5 hot, cusco intake pipe running into the stock airbox i didnt want to suck hot engine air,K/N air filter, trunk mount battery, and cooling mist progressive meth injection, right now ebc set at max 22, the meth is unhooked waiting for a tune, now questions, after a custom tune by AL, what will be the max boost i will be able to run with stock turbo?? will it run out of steam at 27 29,?? will a forge wastegate aucater help me run more boost?? this car is not a daily driver, its a 2nd car and only run weekends and such, thanks for any help in advance

IMO running 27-29 psi on the stock turbo might be too much and might create too much heat to produce power.

Any other input?

You don't need to worry about max boost. Just let Al set your boost during the tune to achieve the most reliable and reproducable power possible. That may be 26, 27, 28, 29psi, whatever. He will likely go more aggressive if you mention that it's not a daily driver, but you really shouldn't worry too much about the actual NUMBER - worry more about the combination of boost, AFR, timing, and alky (or meth). BTW, glad you liked the WT/BR package, but when you got the mod bug, none of those extra mods added any power except the alky kit, which isn't hooked up yet. You wrote "10.5 hot," but you have IX, which already has a 10.5 hotside. All the pipes and stuff were just show pieces, but the alky is going to give you big gains. Also, the battery location will make you illegal at most racing venues, so hopefully you don't intend to race, yah?

wasent aware of the trunk mount battery thing , yes i wanna auto cross ,then as skills progress. road race , guess i'll have to change that, your saying the ic and ic piping a waste?? i evently want to go with a bigger turbo, not sure on witch one, that'll be next year. Warrt what about the wastegate aucater?? i 'll just wait for AL to come back to BR hopefully soon, hope the ic and piping wasent a waste cause it was a pain in the a to install as i had to refab the crash bar , but every thing turned out professional . Warrt thanks again

You don't need a WGA, no. I have one on my VIII for running alky and big boost, but I didn't see a difference. Yes, generally, IC pipes are a waste. The LICP is a pretty good mod, but the UICP and MAF pipe are just show pieces. Please call me Warr or WT to avoid the "wart" reference, haha. You will either need to put the battery back in the engine bay or get a trunk shutoff switch for the battery (forget the exact name) in order to race.

Externally-mounted. It has to stick out of the trunk so that the battery can be turned off by anyone outside the car. This sort of thing is only usually done on real hot-rods - full out race cars.

Deanevo9,

As Warrtalon said, let Al tell you what psi is safe, he can detect knock. Some people run higher boost than others but it all depends on your gas, your mods, your tuning, your location, etcetc. Basicly each car has its own firgerprint, some of them will tolerate more boost than others.

This being said and discussed, what is the MAX HP people are putting down on the IX ? I recently purchased an EVO 9 MR, and will shortly start to mod.

There really is no max, but with all the standard, you're looking at 380-400whp on big boost with alky injection or race gas. Look at my sig for stg1 numbers that are pretty easy and cheap to achieve.
