Valves clicking after oil change?
Valves clicking after oil change?
I had to let a Jiffy place change my oil today - I've used them before when I was pressed for time and they've always been fine.
But for the first time, today - I didn't actually check to see what they put in.
I said "it HAS to be full synthetic." The guy said "Yeah, I know, I remember your car."
The sticker in the window says "synthetic." And they sure as hell charged me for synthetic.
But the valves are clicking really loudly, with a noticeable increase in the rate of the clicking when the rpms raise. Noticed it during a ten mile spin around town tonight - doesn't go away when the engine "warms up", either.
I know I'M the one who's an idiot for turning my back, so please don't flame me for that; I'm already beating myself up enough about it.
Could it be anything other than these tools using regular or maybe just a synthetic blend causing this ticking?
Thanks for any thoughts

Get the jiffy crap outta there before you ruin the bottom. You trust those envious min waged zitfaced kids to put the correct oil or amt in there let alone torque to spec and use a filter that flows enough oil?
Jiffy lube forgot to tighten my wifes oil filter which ended up falling off in my driveway. Lucky I cought this before our 300 mile road trip the next day

Yeah, they probably put the wrong viscosity of oil in your motor. Do they even carry Mobil 1 10W-30 at that place? Also like previous poster mentioned...they probably used a s**t filter.
Dump that oil, get a new Mitsu factory filter as well as a new drain plug washer and 5 quarts of factory specified oil and use a torque wrench on the drain plug when reinstalling.

On my car something similar happened. I switched from Mobil1 0W-40 to Mobil1 5W-50, and I got this ticking sound at idle from the valve train. After we bled one of the lifters the ticking went away. You don't really know what weight oil they put in your car at Jiffy Lube, do you?
