I'm thinking of adding a 3" high flow cat. I know it is not "cool" around these parts but it will make the car stink less and it should cut down on the sound. The only thing I worry about is Race gas... But I plan on meth anyway down the road.

Haha, TELL me about it man. I know exactly what you are talking about. My car sounded great with the stock setup, but once I threw the 35R setup in there my exhaust note went to crap. It sounds like the most ricey fart-cannon exhausted civic you can think of, especially when the exhaust system itself is cold. I even have had my neighbors who know nothing about cars ask me why my car sounds so different now.

Like you said, the reason why is the combo of the large hotside and the equal length header on a 4 cylinder engine. I haven't done anything about my setup yet, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a resonator added at least.

my car stinks like a$$ also. I've got a wideband on it, and the a/f is dead on at 14.7:1, so I know it's not the tuning, just the fact that there's no cat.

when my buddy had his AMS 50trim installed his exhaust was super loud and kinda tinny sounding too. He swapped out his regular test pipe for a resonated test pipe and all was good again. It sounds great and no more fart can/tinny sound

+1 on a resonated test pipe

Well I ordered a Dynomax 24" inline race bullet muffler... Lets see what that does. If that doesn't do it next is a CAT to kill the smell/sound.... If that combo does not do it next is a new rear muffler. If all 3 of those things do not do it well then I am stuck with it. LOL

haha, I noticed the same thing. with the 35r on there it sounds hollow and tinney down low, especially while warming up. once its warmed up it still doesn't sound that great just driving around/normal cruise. THe tone changes big time though when you go WOT.

I just recently put the stock turbo back on and the car sounds awesome again, lol. I hope there is a happy medium here.

Does anyone know if a resonator would get rid of this sound or an inline bullet muffler? I have a feeling the muffler might do a better job sine the resonator just gets rid of the drone at higher speeds. I guess the only way to find out is to actually do it... Has anyone had this problem and been able to fix it with just a 24" bullet muffler?

The bullet muffler toned it down some.... but the thing still farts at 4-5K rpm.... Can anyone help me out with a Catback system that will stop this insanity?
