from previous experience in turbocharging other cars, I know that in order to get rid of that fart noise, adding a resonator (like a 24-36" magnaflow in line resonator), will GREATLY eliminate those unwanted noises. . .i would have it welded in place either after the cat, or in place of a cat if you insist on those measely 5whp. . .the resonator essentially takes those high frequencies, allows them to literally resonate in the chamber, and mellows it out to something lower than we can hear. . .the longer the in line resonator, the better, and i'd trust nothing but magnaflow. . .a muffler will only affect the pitch, not the rasp btw. . .

I think the AMS test pipe with a built in resonator might do the trick....

youre also ignoring the fact that the stock turbo cars are twin scroll, which smooths the tone...

u can use a turboback on a stock turbo car, switch to a35R, even at low boost, and youll notice a dramatic sound change.

I'm curious, are the people having this "raspy" problem running a wastegate dump or a re-routed one?

I'm sure most are running open wastegate dumps......but even if you reroute to the exhuast the problem would still occur.

THe Greddy SP2 catback has an oval muffler and a resonator. It is a very quiet exhaust. Something to look into.

someone with the GREddy and same 35R setup already posted that it didn't help! I think it has more to do with the lack of resonation post DP, in combo with the thin-walled headers, etc.

I am tempted to buy the AMS resonated test pipe...but at 250.00 I might deal with the sound for a while...

I don’t know how much I can add here, but I too have a 35r set up, running an extended dp due to a top mount manifold design, I have the HKS carbon Ti, and my note got a little deeper when I put the kit on. I like the note it makes.

A friend of mine has a IX with the same exhaust and he is actually louder than I am till we really get into the gas, once my WG opens up, I am a lot louder. We are both running test pipes also.

His idle is noticeably louder than mine.

Do what everyone else has stated, get a resonator, and call it a day.

You will never get the car to sound like it did with the stock turbo. The equal length header, lack of twin scroll turbine housing, as well as the physical housing and turbine wheel being much larger (and acting much less like a muffler than before) are all the main culprits for the sound change. Just learn to live with it and when people invariably make fun, just blow them off the road....well, thats what I do anyway

36" Resonator or 28" magnaflow oval muffler? Also what is the difference in a Bullet Muffler and a Resonator? I have recently installed a Inline Bullet Muffler and the car still farts.... It is less but it is still there....

ha ha this topic is funny i have had a t67 on my car for the last year with a short runner manifold (sounded deep & great) i just switched to a quality equal length manifold & the fart can action is there now it is for sure the header because that is the ONLY thing i changed since the noise changed what can you do i guess but just deal with it this noise your talking about is just under part throttle from say 4-5500 right???

I would think that the resonator would have a greater effect on reducing the sound IMO. I am going to install a resonated test pipe and see what happens...
