hard shifting at high rpm

hi, i am the owner of an evo VIII and it is really hard to shift at high rpms.

the clutch i got is from clutchmasters six puck (with springs) disk, an the act lightweight flywheel.

i already bleed the clutch line, and adjusted the clutch pedal, and it is still doing it.

is it a tranny problem or i just need another clutch?

Probably your syncro's. High rpm shifting beats on them pretty good.

Depends on what you mean by "really hard to shift." What is happening? You haven't given us any details yet.

PS. Why in the world did you get a Clutchmaster's clutch? I don't even know where Evo owners see such things. Why not get a proven clutch that has worked well on tons of Evos?

by hard shifting, i mean it is hard to get into gear, leading to slow shifting and poor track times.

it also sometimes, locks me out of second, or third gear.

still sounds like an adjustment issue - where does the clutch grap - at the top or middle or low in the clutch pedal?

The flywheel step height could have been out of spec for that clutch. This is why sometimes certain flywheel clutch combinations are not good matches. Put the car on 4 jack stands (so all 4 wheels are off the ground) and start the engine. Put the car in 1st gear BUT keep the clutch pedal pressed all the way to the floor. Have someone observe your wheels. If they are still spinning while the pedal is depressed all the way, this means your clutch is not fully disengaging and you either need to adjust the pedal OR you need to remove the flywheel to have it resurfaced to the proper step height. Make sure that the clutch lines are FULLY bled (no bubbles). How did your transmission shift prior to the clutch install? If it shifted fine, then chances are that something needs to be adjusted on the clutch. Do the test mentioned above, and take note when the clutch becomes fully disengaged (should be midway through the pedal stroke, not all the way to the floor/firewall). You might also want remove the little rubber grommet on the tranny and observe while someone presses on the clutch. Make sure that the throw out bearing is evenly engaging and that the pressure plate fingers are not warping to one side.

But hard how? Meaning it grinds, it locks out, what? Just saying it's hard to shift doesn't tell us much.
