Stupid question...How hard is it to install a turbo kit?

I am no stranger to working on my car, but this is my first turbo vehicle. I am trying to decide on two things, 1) Installing my turbo myself and 2) Buying new or used. If its not that hard to do I will consider buying used.

Also, I have been looking around on the forum and I see used turbos for sale and they are pictured assembled. Is that how I would go about putting it on, in one piece?

Thanks for answering my noob questions.

installing a new turbo is not hard at all. everything on there would be self explaned. the only thing i suggest is to take the o2 housing off with the turbo as its easier to work on outside the car. as for turbos its up to you to stay with the water cooled/ oil cooled or go something else. but its something that can be done at home.

Thanks. If I went with a used kit and it didn't have instructions it would be just the oppostie of removing the factory, right?

Yea its really really simple, expecially if you label all the parts(bolts) you took off, just makes it that much easier to re assemble. Just know how to prime the turbo when you get it on. (Ive heard that ball bearing ones can do without priming but I ALWAYS prime)

installing a "complete" turbo kit is a breeze, the key work here being complete. missing a clamp or coupler could throw a wrench in the mix if your working on a Sunday when not a whole lot is open.

don't be afraid to remove the front bumper and pull the radiator also to save those fins from getting damage.

Things you want to look for in a "complete" kit would be a lower IC pipe solution, a decent intake that lets you re-circulate the BOV if your running the stock ECU and also a way to mate to your exhaust, just for a few...

not to hi-jack but a friend of mine recently recieved a RNR kit and to me it seems its missing some parts... no hotside gasket to be seen...... they almost appear to be machined surfaces but i would hate to guess on that. Also there is no sign of the oil dump connection to the oil pan im wondering @ this point if you just re-use stock........
