Best diff fluid/TC fill method?
Best diff fluid/TC fill method?
I had a hell of a time filling my TC/diff with Diaqueen. I bought one of those orange Mityvac transfer pumps, but it wouldn't hold a seal when pumping the 90w diaqueen fluid. I ended up using a funnel with a long nylon hose, but it was troublesome as it would kink easily.
What are some better pumps and/or methods for filling the TC/diff? I am looking for something < $100 hopefully.

You guys ever use Lubrication Engineer's LE 607 90w GL 5 diff fluid? Its pretty popular with the S2000 guys. That stuff is amazing, I mean freakin amazing. I've never seen anything quite like it. It can offer the same protection at 10 degrees F as it does at 150 degrees, and it doesn't get hot and break down like a lot of fluids at the track.
When I still had my s2k a friend of mine who also had one drove the same distance to use a lift. My diff was warm, his was too hot to touch. When he switched over to LE 607, his diff never seemed to get "Hot"

Oh, to answer your question I use a $10 syphon pump for stuff like that. You suck the fluid into a resivouir, insert tube into diff, then push the fluid in.

You need to pick up one of these at a local auto part store. I buy one everytime I change my tranny, TC, and rear diff. oil. Good luck.

buy one of the push pumps for like 8 bucks at pepboys or autozone.....Dont actually pull the handle to suck in fluid....it casues a big mess....I pull the handle all the way forward and then unscrew the end and pour in the fluid and then push the handle to pump....make sure you pump slow or you will have fluid left over.
That gear oil pump would work well on the tranny, thanks for that.
I don't think it would thread onto the diaqueen container though. It has a funky pop top on it. Maybe I should just empty out an old tranny fluid container and fill it with diaqueen to use with the gear oil pump.

Yeah, I forgot that diaqueen comes in a big jug. I use all Redline oil, so that makes things a little easier since they all come in 1 quart bottles.

As a backyard fix I used a empty bottle of synchromesh and cut a hole in the side of it, push the filler into the tcase and hold the bottle at a 45 degree angle and use a stright funnle to put the fluid into the hole I cut into the side of the bottle. Took three hands but worked pretty well. I know its redneck but its all I had on a Friday night
Buy a large funnel and large vinyl hose. Boil one end of the hose in water and stick it on the funnel. Drop the funnel wherever needed in the engine compartment. It will just sit there. Crawl under and cut the hose if too long. Insert hose in fill hole. With a can of your favorite berverage in one hand, pour with the other. This setup also works when filling the rear differential. With the driver's rear wheel removed I found I could wedge the funnel between the strut and something there.
If you have an automatic transmission funnel, a short piece of vinyl hose added to the end of its spout will perform the same function.

you need to get one of those cheap pumps from pep boys or whatever the orange and black one. then buy one 3/8" to 3/8" nylon fitting. cut it in half. put one of each of those into the inside of the orange hose. then get two worm gear clamps .5" ones. and then clamp after you insert the hose into the pump.
that will ensure nothing will ever pop off and you can empty a quart bottle in like 3 pumps.
