Flooded the Evo....Please help.
same thing happened to my friends gti, he just took alot of crap apart and cleaned it and replaced sum parts and the car is fine... i'll find out what was the exact problem with his car later....
Yea, alot of the guys with GTi sget cold air intakes, which sit VERY low by the bottom of the front bumper. I know few guys that hydrolocked there cars, but the evo on the other hand, I don't understand how its possilbe. You would have to go throw a "puddle" that is over 2 feet deep i would imagine. Sounds like its electrical. Let us know what the turn out is.
happened to my friends r32, we flushed the oil a lot and then he brought it to j lube and flushed the motor w/ something like kerosene....i forget exactly, finally got it somewhatr back to normal, but the car never drove the same again, power wise.

^ 2nd that. Clean your MAF sensor carefully. It should be fine. It's not like EVO was completely submerged under the water.
By the way, insurance should cover it. As long as it was public road...

Unplug the MAF connector and shoot the connector and harness with electrical connector cleaner to dry it out. You can make any EVO run this badly simply by leaving the connector off. Wont rev over 2K and throws a CEL. Im guessing its wet and shorting out.

Remove all your plugs and dry out the plug wires and the connectors on the coils. Also buy the MAF sensor cleaner from CRC available at PepBoys and clean your MAF. Make sure the connector to the MAF is dry. Only reving to 2k and building boost sounds like a spark issue.
^ same as others are saying, my buddy forgot to plug his maf sensor back in after install of an intake on his evo and the same **** happened, car wont rev past 2k and spews black smoke because it basically goes into limp mode and dumps fuel into the motor to keep bad things from happening as it isnt getting any karman readings... Check the maf sensor and maf that's where your problem lies...
and usually when you suck up water, your entire filter is soaked, but if you did suck up water i believe it would be your maf that would really take the damage, because that water has to travel quite bit, before reaching the throttle body, and engine..
