We have the IX Mivec Cosworth Cams on hand

I am offering a free custom tune with paid cams, install and dyno

Al
You are running a special with the purchase of these cams. Free tune that is pretty generous unless you are making up for the money somewhere else.

You could always just do an exhaust cam, any exhaust cam for the VIII will work on the IX. The only int/exh cams for the IX are Cosworth, GSC, and Kelford.

It was my car that had the cams put in and I love the low end torque. I think i've been convinced to do a test pipe and a cat back just for the top end. Here's the rough #'s without the graphs,

Baseline (no tune) - 257 hp & 270 tq

Cams (no tune) - 271 hp & 295 tq

Cams (tune) - 289 hp & 332 tq

The torque picked up from baseline to the final run was huge and the power comes on sooner than the baseline run too (after the tune). If you look at the chart that i'm sure Al will post up later, I'm definately restricted by the stock exhaust.

*Side note* - one of my spark plugs was found to be cracked and for lack of a better option we used STI spark plugs which were gapped a little hotter, but thankfully fit, otherwise i was going nowhere.

So to say if it were a 35R with all supporting mods with tune I would see similar if not better results...

I may be wrong, but i think the cosworth cams are pretty well suited for the stock turbo, and if you have a bigger turbo you'd want 280's or S2's or the equivalent

What dyno was this done on? I've heard some things about some dynos up north and some funky numbers going on.

BTW - Cosworth probably doesn't have it on their "roll of honor" but they were fired by their last customer in F1 (Williams) in favor of Toyota after several engine failures last season.

I was offering a special to try and get the cams on some cars and get some results to see if they were good or not

If they sucked I would have posted that information was well

Hapily they worked out well

search for my review. i got 39hp from cosworth cams and a retune with significant increase in torque. the other vendor you mentioned changed-improved their initial design after just one month. this almost made me think that they looked at some other-better cams in the market om how to improve the initial design. no surprise that the new cams have higher lift than the original ones (just like cosworth cams)

dont get mee wrong, i think its great that the company tries to improve their design, but a new cam in just one month seems hardly enough time to design something new to me

I personally havent seen any posts about how great these cams except for this one. Maybe they are that good but my money would have to go with probably not but only time will tell. I think the Cosworth cams for the IX are comparable to the S2's that are going to be available from GSC and wont see there full potential until they are on an Evo with the right supporting mods.

Al...you mentioned that Cosworth suggested no need for the valveterain @ stock rev limiter...but isnt 272 considered a lifty cam? especially for someone who is running 1.7 bar of boost?

bosshog...did you instal any valve springs and retainers??

respect

Thanks for sharing good info about Cosworth IX cams. I am now convinced that these cams provide good gains of 20~30 tq/hp. One observation, why does the hp curve start to drop off at 5500 rpm on the last graph with Stage II IX? Shouldn't it at least continue to go up until 6500 rpms?
